Well, when i first saw the name of the manga, i thought the same of KanameChan did.

But i recently read something on the internet that's said in Japan girls usually sing theirs cellphone messengers with 'xxx', and in this case it's mean 'kiss'. I think it also matchs at the manga context, doesn't it?...but i don't know
Maybe the first theorie make more sense than that^^

the "HoLic" stands for "poisoned"
that means ~~
"xxxHoLic"--->"poisoned phenomenon in the society"

well i found some time ago also these description of the XXX : they are not letters at all but multiplication signs, which can resemble either small or capital X's depending on the font they are viewed in. In Japan, this character is used to indicate a relationship or crossover between things, while in the west an 'x' is traditionally used to represent something unknown or omitted. Those who have read the manga will therefore know that 'HOLiC' refers to the unhealthy habits, addictions and compulsions etc. that Yûko's customers suffer from, and '×××' as both a place holder for the various types of "holics" (alcoholic, workaholic, etc.) and a reference to the accompanying theme of peoples' relationships with objects...

I always thought the XXX was to stand in for any kind of addiction. The first story is about a ghost-holic, the next a computer-holic, and so on.

hmm, I thought xxx is the representation of three main characters in this manga (Watanuki, Doumeki, and Himawari) since Clamp also have some fetish on using element of "three". Remember how CCS is filled with the ornament of Sun, Moon and Star? O_o

That was really informative. I really didn't know the meaning of xxx either. Just that, everytime I talked about this serie and mentioned its' name my friends thought it's a Hentai anime! ^_^' Gosh! :D That's really funny!

well.. u dont say the title is 'xxxHolic'..

recently,(forgot the source oredi) i found out that the title xxxHoLiC is only pronounced as 'holic'. yuuko also said just the holic part in the anime.

guess KanameChan theory fits best. since xxx is ___, u dont say it.
