Why can't people follow the guidelines it is clearly stated in a sticky thread in the entrance lounge by Shinsengumi. It clearly states that it is frowned upon for the creation of Favorite and comparison threads since they have very little dicussion value . Yet I see them being created ona daily basis by newer and even older members. I have even created them without knowing that these threads were frowned upon. Wh/ Why can't people just follow the rules I mean haven't they seen this posted in other favorite threads.

This is a quote from the thread in regards to these types of threads.

Quote by Shinsengumi+Favorites and versus threads
As these threads seldom generate meaningful discussion and are often duplicates of existing threads, please refrain from creating threads asking for favorite characters, series, or games as well as threads comparing individual characters, series, or games.

Yes but the problem I have is that several different members create the same thread over and over again. Even thought they see it didn't do well in the first place. I mean what do they think that if they do create a new thread of the same type that theirs will do better. Then they also post threads with absolutely no meaning whatsoever. All the thread does is ask people to join this messanger or that messanger because the thread creator was bored. Added t o the fac that there is an increasing amount of threads being created about porn and hentai. I even saw one about the voice actresses from hentai movies. Don't they realize that younger people pos ton these forums. I've ignored it in the past but I just can't stand it anymore.

I know people just never learn. It's sad to think how MT used to be in comarison with how it is now. I haven't seen any new threads like that surface again but I have a feelingi tisn't the end.

We should have age restrictions to reduce such acts. Even though it would be like Neopets where the majority just say they are 17 to get special priveledges =/ The dont mind topics of the same nature, however I hate people that cant make proper points. How hard is it ;_;

Apparently it's really hard for some. Yes I can understand those hear that have trouble speaking english because that is not their native tongue but what are some peoples excuses. They just ramble and don't actually post a question.

Behavior in online forums reflects real life. Working in a University tech support call center, I see this stuff all the time. Generally, it comes down to two things:

1) people are lazy

Instead of finding an answer for themself, they rely on asking someone without putting forth any effort. This leads to more laziness as other people see that "it's ok to do it." With all of our advanced technology, we still can't cure laziness.

2) the literacy rate is surprisingly low

One would think that a professor in neurobiology would be able to read instructions and follow them. If you think that, you're terribly wrong, because intelligent people can't read, apparently. Recently, someone called up with a problem with setting up her dialup connection. After picking up the documentation, she went home to try it out. She then calls, saying she can't get it to work. So we take a copy of the paper to follow along with her. The consultant reads the first step aloud. She then proceeds to rant about how we just made her feel stupid (apparently the first step fixed her problem). Go figure.

Modern science also has yet to solve this literacy issue.

</rant>

Well, I guess the people that we complain about will just ignore this thread. It won't solve anything, but serves as a nice way to blow off some steam.

They have thus far seeing as only 5 people posted in this thread. In lies the problem people are lazy and iliterate. It's like a virus spreading through a persons body. It isn't stopped until the body builds up immunity throughthe creation of antibodies. Unfortunately due to teh large meber base of this forum it's hard to do this. The mods and admins rely a little on the input from other members on such lazy behavior. Has anyone noticed that more and more of the newer members out right curse. I mean I reproted one member who is now a mute member because he cursed alot and made very inappropriate threads. Cursed me out after I posted in one of them.

These weren't really that recent a change I don't even think they are an update. It' always been like that but it wasn't really bad so nothing was really done about it.

Well, as members of MT, we should be trying to make MT a better place. But the increas ing nummber of meaningess, repeatative, and perverted threads are really ruining the mods and some members' effort.

http://forum.minitokyo.net/showthread/26717/
Read that thread. People are even labeling MT as a pornagraphy site.
It is really pathetic.

Btw, it is really nice to see some threads are being closed. The wonderful mod, Marissa, is closing tons of illegal threads right now^^

well i think that "what is better" threads should be allowed like i started a "ninjas or pirates which are better?" thread here and at zenhex.com the one here was closed though the one at zenhex became popular in just two hours i understand that criminal or profane behavior is bad but simple polls can be good

I don't even create any threads- so I can say that at least I haven't made any threads against the rules, because I have not given myself the oppurtunity to do so. XP I try my hardest to abide by the rules of whatever forums I belong to, but apparently this is neither the "cool" or "popular" thing for most kids...

Case in point: My 12 year old sister thinks that it's "cool" to go into forums/chatrooms and lie about her age, spam excessively, and flame every person in sight. She calls me a nerd because I actually pay attention to the rules and try to be polite to people, even if I don't agree with them.

It's quite sad to think that the very kind of person I cannot stand is the kind of person she is... -_-

Okay, I'm done ranting now.

Cockatoos are weapons of mass destruction.

I dont know why... Why dont you ask them spystreak? I dont know how you find things to report i onlt reported one guy that was very inpolite...
I use the rule if you dont like the thread dont say anything at all so i avoid most of the threads... And about the porn stuff what can i do? The thing is already posted... There is no use crying over spilled milk... I care about MT but i'm NOT gonna browse it searching for something to report all day... And because of that respect to admins, mods, elite and other members... ^^
I'll help if someone asks me but i wont do reporting nor closing threads by myself... I dont have the authorisation for it.

Most of what I report I find just by looking through the forums trying to find interesting threads to post in. Then there are duplicate threads and art submissions. How do I find dup art submissions easy I've browsed through the gallery many times since I joined looking for nice walls and stuff. I get this deja vu feeling that I go and investigate if I don't find anything I just shrug it off. Spamming you wouldn't beleive how many people spam threads and sad to say they are mostly newer members trying to level up.
If you think I only browse the forums searching for things to report think again. I don't as I said before I just find these things while in search of threads that I normally post on or a new thread to post in. I post in those threads purely to inform newer members which sad to say does not work most of the time.
