its seriously not cool of teachers to give students homework on holidays...its called holiday which means no homwork and its seriously unfair for the students if they have homework ona holiday

Yes and no, yes because it will keep the students in tune with what they are doing in class, and it wont be vaporized the second they walk out of the class room. And no, because if some teachers bog you down with 50 pages of homework during, say christmas break you are not focusing on your family, and only on your homework.
