Ok, so my brother is currently behind me watching episode 43 of Kenshin, and you know, I really don't know whether or not I like it. While the story is actually pretty cool, the plot seems to drag on and very little is accomplished in any one episode.
Am I crazy for thinking this? or should the series have been like... 1/2 the size with more compressed plot?

really? rurouni kenshin is one of my favorite animes of all time! i don't think i would have liked it as much if it had been half the size because there wouldn't have been as much time for character development... i actually wish that the series had been longer because after the kyoto arc the anime deviated from the manga... (won't get into my rant on that)
i suppose it's just personal preference though...

Ok but seriously Kenshin is my favorite anime you will see the light you too when you have watched the whole serie. just
dont forget the OVAs ^^

I personally like the Samurai X OAV's better than the series & movie. The animation is better and the tone is more serious, but RK was good.

I'm reading through the Jinchuu ARc now. It's personally better than the Filler Arcs on d series..
I agree the Kyoto arc is really good but seeing as the series is basically the story of Kenshin's life and adventures after his sojourn as the Battousai it will be a little slow from time to time. That doesn't mean the story lines aren't good just different. A less action in most cases. I enjoyed the series all the way through and enjoyed Trust, Betrayal, the movie, and Reflections.

Just watch Season 2 of the Rurouni Kenshin anime. The rest is bad, but Season 2 is practically unparalleled in all of anime, I think.
I think the Kyoto arc is what defines the series as a whole. Nothing seems to be impressive until you get to that arc. It just has a really powerful story, and lots of fighting too. :)

Too true. But if you compare Kyoto arc to Jinchuu. I think you'll find Jinchuu better. Just my opinion though... :)

I agree, however I didn't really care for the show at all...Kenshin is way cooler when he appears to be a cold hearted individual I think...he's much quieter in the ova's. I think it speaks more for his character.
It is pleasant to me only ova and I think a serial slightly silly

The Kyoto arc is what makes this series shines imo, but the other arcs is pretty good too. The story may drag on at times but the amount of fighting makes up for it.
i agree that the kyoto arc is very good. definitely don't watch the third arc, as it is terrible. I bought the whole thing b/c i wanted to see what happened and also before i knew about the jinchuu arc. tokyo pop has been releasing the manga, and it's just about done with the series, so if you wanna get into the jinchuu arc, it's there. i've read most of it, including the end, and it's awsome! the third arc of the anime seems drawn out to me, but that's becuase the plot was terrible. the kyoto arc was great at character development, and even before the kyoto arc, the stories were good to start out.
Just watch the kyoto arc and the OVA's. The third season is not based off the manga and is a waste of time. The Jinchu arc from the manga is good to, personaly i like the manga better.

yeah! the manga rocks. has anyone read Yahiko no Sakabato by the way? it's sort of like a follow up after Volume 28 in the RuroKen manga
i fink i lyk the first pasrt of kenshin betta (Wandering Samurai)...dunno y buh it juss feels lyk the story plot gets thin wen he went to kyoto...>.<" thats juss how i feel...
I do not think the Kyoto arc was all that thin or plodding, but for those only interested in fight scenes, it picks up during and after Kenshin's fight with the Juppon Gatana's Sword Collector. After the Kyoto arc, all fight scenes are disgraceful and not worth watching.

The manga is the best source. The anime was good but not as good and the third arc of the anime was terrible and they
left out the jinchu arc (revenge arc) and the the first two ova are good but the third has some enjoyable seens but
changes Kenshin's and Kaoru's real personality into weak, depressing characters which is not what they really are like
so stick to the manga and the kyoto arc in the anime
