In Japan I heard that asking someone their blood type was as common as asking someone their sign in other parts of the world, and that your blood type indicated your personality. Does anyone think that it can?

For example my blood type's B+ so it says my personality is like

People with blood type B are the most practical of the blood groups. They are specialists in what they do. When they start a project, they spend extra time understanding and trying to follow directions than others might. When they are doing something, all of their attention is focused on it. They tend to stick to a goal and follow it through to the end, even if it seems impossible. They tend to be less than cooperative, as they like to follow their own rules and their own ideas. They are individualists. B type people pay attention to their thoughts a little more than their feelings, and therefore can sometimes seem cold and serious.

It does seem alot like me but I dont know if its true. Whats everyone elses opinion on the subject? Do you think that blood type reflects personality?

"People with blood type O people are outgoing, energetic and social."
XD I don't have to bother reading any more.

Anyway, I don't think that your blood defines your personality. The same thing with astrology.

No, I think that blood type has nothing to do with your personality, there's only 4 basic blood type and way too many different personalities to be place under those blood types. further more, after mixing the personalities, it just won't work out

The whole blood-type nonsense dates back to the WW2/Axis days when they were looking for excuses to define people as undesirable, inferior and subhuman.

That it has persisted to this day is just, well, sad.

No at all... well I don't believe in astology, so why would I have to believe in this blood thing. I'm more tempted to believe in fengshui...

"Type A

People with blood type A have a deep-rooted strength that helps them stay calm in a crisis when everyone else is panicking. However, they tend to avoid confrontation, and feel very uncomfortable around people. A types are shy and sometimes withdrawn. They seek harmony and are very polite, but all the same feel that they never really fit in with others. A types are very responsible. If there is a job to be done, they prefer to take care of it themselves. These people crave success and are perfectionists. They are also very creative, and the most artistic of all the blood types, most likely because of their sensitivity.

People with blood type A are also likely to be considered classic "type A's": stressed and conscientious. In anime, people like Hotohori are type A's.

The Third Hokage, Haruno Sakura, Hotohori, Heero Yui, Keiko (Kayko) Yukimura
"

But... arf... the description of the A fits me more than the other, pure chance since I know that my sis and bro (who have the same blood type than me) don't fit it.

Sounds like me ^-^!
...
AB is considered the worst blood type. In predictability-loving Japan, they're loose cannons. They also like to set their own conditions and reserve the right to drop out when things don't meet their expectations. They're known to be sensitive and considerate—at times—but it just isn't enough to balance out the flaws in this blood type. For a while, some companies tried dividing their employees into work groups based on blood type, and no one wanted to work with the AB group. Anime villains are likely to be type AB.

That's not true. Using the bloodtypes to obtain a reading is a rather common cultural phenomenon that developed as a modern adaption of the western horoscope for the Orient, and is not limited to Japan. China and South Korea also have similar practices. The bloodtype is used today in conjunction with the traditional Chinese zodiac as well as the western zodiac to give a complete horoscope. It is not a remnant of physiological profiling but a very modern phenomenon.

I don't think this theory is true. I can't accept my personnality to be determined by my bloodtype because it would mean I'm not free to be who I want. That's all.
(anyway I don't even know my bloodtype...)

People with blood type B are often considered more relaxed, freewheeling, and unconventional than other types, although not necessarily to an unacceptable degree. In anime, the genki, off-the-wall types are type B, along with any kind of well-intended character who's ruled by their impulses.

don't really know if i sound like that...but i'm relaxed and freewheeling ^^

Yup. The bloodtype question is still very much common in modern East Asia, and you may be surprised at how seriously many people take it. I'm not quite sure how it is in the other cultures but where I am, one's bloodtype is most commonly used as a way to identify some basic personality traits. (They're used in horoscopes as well, but at fortune tellers they don't seem as interested in your bloodtype as they are in your exact birthdate & time.) It's striking how a lot of people treat knowing another's blood type as something of a shortcut to learning about another person. Some people even think it necessary to find out the bloodtype of their potential bf/gf to see if they're naturally compatible or not. ^^ (there's a lot of information on which blood types are compatible as partners.) But yea. I don't think there's anyone that doesn't know their blood type here. ^^

Type ab

People with blood type AB are hard to categorize. They can have characteristics on both ends of the spectrum at the same time. For instance, they are both shy and outgoing. They easily switch from one opposite to another. AB people are trustworthy and responsible, but can't handle it when too much is asked of them. They don't mind doing favors or helping out, as long as its on their own conditions. People with this blood type are interested in art and metaphysics.

Erm... well, to me, blood type is less far-fetched than astrology, makes more sense for your personality to be determined by what's inside of you than planets that are millions of miles away.

still, anything similar is probably just luck as there are much more deciding factors for personality than blood type.
