this may not be like the end of the world but its so bad theres 25 feet of water at any given area there...people are commiting suicide its so bad..people dropping dead they're saying atleast 1,000 people (not including those still in somes and hidden) found dead on the first day...and the damn broke adding another 6 feet of water....

-people are complaining of no aid being helped
-businesses being luted
-horrible conditions

first of all i say go ahead and loot grocery stores...if you have kids you need to survive..
the government knew that the hurricane was coming and yet no "authority/aid" has been able to get into Luisiana...due to flood waters, hospitals without power so they can't help victoms wtf is this?
all i hear American gorvernment high and mighty military the best out there..and we can have cell phones that can tell if you have bad BO or a pill thats keeps a man hard for 37 hours but we can't invent a portable water purifier? sometimes i hate my country...just my opinion

but right now we need to focus on getting them out....many people are still stuck on roofs and the shortage of buses can't keep getting people out...which is the best way of helping people right now....sending those to hospitals with power...medications needed for diabetics

omg...lord help them....i pray for the families, the victoms and the aid...lets help these people....i wish the best of luck...this weekend i'll be donating my RV to the salvation army for the homeless...but sadly thats all i can do for now T.T..god bless them

-comments and personal stories more than welcome

this may sound mean, but its the truth:

the louisiana government had no plans for aid or evacuation for hurricanes, yet theyve had hundreds of hurricanes in the past

the louisiana people are animals; look at the folks in mississippi, theyre calmly rebuilding and feeding people

some stupid bastard is shooting at rescue helicopters for no damn reason

they should have left the damned city when they were told to

they're fracking idiots

You make a good point SekiRyuu, but I live in the middle (right in the middle) of the Caribean Sea, and we dont evacuate because of hurricanes. People dont want to leave the city they live in, especially if their lives are there; they have no where else to go. Also, I think you should have some simpathy, these peoples lives have been ruined. They have lost everything they had. My country does hurricane drills, which is something every coastline city should practice. The goverment of Louisiana should have done a better job.

I think it's not the time or place to criticize whne there are millions in need and in jeapardy. Homes were distroyed, lives were lost, livelihoods taken forever. They are the ones suffering, and it would be imprudent and insensitive to begin to demean the beleagered people of a ravaged region. Without food, without adequate shelter, with the full knowledge that everything one has ever loved and worked for is now gone, it is not difficult to empathize with the people of the area.

As an afterthought, let's concentrate our thoughts on this hurricane and its aftermath in one place, i.e. the existing threads linked above.

Edit: somehow i didn't finish a sentence, lol

Thank you for that EternalParadox, my hometown is being slandered enough as it is, it angers me to see threads like this, my townspeople are going through enough suffering as it is. It'd be best for one to donate some care to the city instead of criticizing it.

I'm scared now. It's like one by one Gods drowning everyone out. And those people may have had their reasons for staying! Some people may have thought it's just another storm or could'nt afford to leave Lousianna! And it was'nt the storm exactly that killed many it wasn't until after the storm that people died because the damn and everything holding the flooding water broke! I wish everyone in the world, all humans got to experience death-threatening situations! Then we would'nt be so cruel and ignorant! >=0000000~~~~~!!!!!!!!
I trust in God to make humanity pay for it's Ingnorance and stupidity! And because of the actions of others, there are those who will die who we needed in this world!

Whew! I'm so angry... :hmpf: I need to calm down. Sorry about my rambling...

It's a shame...thinking about the people who are now 'homeless' due to the hurrican. I feel sorry for them all. But, some of the people that live in Louisiana and Mississippi, could have left when told too...in that case, there wouldn't be so many dead and missing. I can understand not wanting to leave their homes and lives, but I would leave, than risk my life (and my family) for a house and personal belongings...you can always rebuild, but you can't if you risk your life, and end up losing.
My prayers are with all of the people suffering because of the hurrican.

I think that what surprised me the most is that the authorities didn't provide a way to leave to the people who couldn't get out by themselves. I've naively thougth since there was an evacuation order that things like buses could have been used.

Guess it's the poors that have suffered the most.

Oh my God, I was watching the news and hurricane that hit Lousianna was horrible! God it's so awful that people are running around trying to survive. Just horrible. I heard that the toilets there are clogged so the people had to pee in bags! Awful, just plain awful. The government is trying everything to help those people, but in the end they know the best solution is for the people to just get out. It's really cool that people are getting together, like Red Cross and other parts of the world are offering their condolences. I hope Lousianna the best and that they get back on their feet soon. Billions of dollars are going to be spent on repairing it. Best of luck!

Some people couldn't evacuate. They just couldn't make it into the buses or maybe just didn't have the resources they would have needed. I highly doubt they'd shoot at rescue helicopters.

bush is to blame for everything isnt he? [/sarcasm]

ooo, a natural disaster, lets blame it on bush. . . im sick of that crap

one person cant do sh*t about a natural disaster. . .

and dont think that im not sympathizing with them; its just that the truth hurts

half of our city is still without power because of the storm, and if you were to look down on mississippi from space, it would just be a giant black hole

they did shoot at a rescue helicopter, thats why the evacuation of the super dome was halted this afternoon

and some cities are kicking refugees out of hotels so they can make room for "american idol" fans. . . what kinda fracked up sh*t is that?!

Again, point the finger at a time like is absolutely the worst possible action one can do. It 1. does not alleviate the suffering of those in need, and 2. does not prevent future disasters from wreaking the same havoc. Really, if people would stop pointing fingers and use them to do a few things like donate and give blood or even to volunteer at the local Red Cross to help coordinate the influx of aid from around the country, that would certainly provide those down in the Gulf Coast so much more life-saving necessities than any blame-game can ever produce.

*sighs* Ya know the government is trying its best, nothing is perfect. I'm a meteorologist and I was there for Hurricane Katrina. I saw trees fly and roofs fly off buildings. I'm stuck in one place cause we don't have gas, half the county doesn't have power, and there's curfew out. This is a major disaster and all the help we can get is needed from everyone around the world. But we will rebuild and live. This is what it means to live on the Gulf Coast. I just hope people will now understand how devistating these storms are and will take them seriously. Hopefully more people will evacuate from now on. Its bad down here, really bad. But we will survive and hopefully our cities will be better for it.

I'm going to keep on doin' what I'm doin' until someone realizes I don't know what I'm doin'.

...They DID shoot at those helicopters, eh? ...What have we become.... Anyway, my school is starting a drive to donate money tomorrow.

Have you read the edito ?

i don't completely shared his POV. But isn't it true than the money that could have been used to make hurricane have less disastrous consequences was used for Iraq or security things ? Isn't it true that some of the National Guards that could have helped to the evacuation are in Iraq ?

i believe that one of the most responsible things is also to find out what could have been prevented and to do the best to prevent it.

Were people wrong after the Kobe eathquake to blame the enterprises that didn't respect the building norms ? Of course, the main cause is a natural disaster but it doesn't mean we have to sit there just waiting for the natural disasters are over.

i'm with you there needs to be improvement and further involvement for rescue efforts..but everything is under like 23 feet of water....people are donating like crazy and sending their boats down to help but they're being turned away due to the fact that the can't get through or its too dangerous....it really breaks my heart to hear these stories and i wish i could do so much more....i could care less about the strain its putting on our economy those poeople need help! especailly those with special needs and the elderly i can't imagine the poor pregnant women..the heat, the labor pains and everything but nowhere to go

the looting is getting rediculious but if i were in that situation i'd loot food....

but i can't help but to get angry at those with children and didn't leave! that's endangerment of those children....even if their lives are there...but most just had no where to go....

I've already heard whats happening to where I live nearby the reliant energy dome in houston T.X, over here im with my friend cousin house with +15 more new orlands relatives living with him. But yea.. it's a shamble over there once the flooding is drained out of the state. People are litterly looting casinos breaking through stores, and for a civiliaztion without rules.. the people turn into savages ,....but only reason I them for the wrong doing is just to surivive.

All motels and hotels are filled up only the expensive ones are out still avalible maybe for "American Idols"

Watch theres a good chance that the Texas is next up on terrorist attacks due to high concentrated population in around 6 huges domes, and that were able to support that many.

Well ya'll! Giddi-up cause we fixin to help ya'll as much as we can because this state an't too small to leave ya'll behind in the waters.

Hehe.... the day after tomorrow! Hehe....(joke).....not a funny one but hey just tryin to lighten the mood of depression!! ^_^'...

Yea, it is getting depressing. The footage of the hurricane is on all the news channels (though i wouldn't have it anyother way, mind you) and its starting to mess my head up. I've already seen all this in person and up close, so its taking a tole on my emotions.

I'm going to keep on doin' what I'm doin' until someone realizes I don't know what I'm doin'.
