well, just like the subject says... me and my gf just finished watching Mai-Hime... but we were wondering one thing that we couldn't figure out at all....
how is Alyssa-chan alive again????
it's understandable with all those other people, who were the loved ones, cuz Miyu destroyed the pillars holding their 'life' or whatnot... but we can't figure out about that psychotic little girl..

That's what I've thougth too... since Alyssa was not killed by or because of an hime. So the only reason is her being an hime and that being dead also bring some "power"... and of course to have a perfect happy ending.

i wanna ask why nothing was explained regarding the powers of the child is based on how much they care for a person, why is it so easily destroyed and how does Dhuran came back after it refuses to come out?????

1. Alyssa- i think they just brought her back for the happy ending thing. because nao also acknowledges her, so she can obviously see her. "you're a scary kid" (or something like that)

2. regarding Duran's reappearance. natsuki's whole reason for fighting was to avenge her mother's death. however, when smith ( i think was his name) told her the "truth" about her mother, she lost the love she had for her mother. exit her most important person which explains duran's deafness to her calls. however, in the end nastuki decides to trust her mother, concluding that people can get confused and make mistakes for those they treasure. thus the reappearance (and powered up) duran version 2.

Alyssa was a fake-hime but her loved one also died when her child did, which meant that his life was put into the pillars.(Not a real Hime, but acts like one, hence theres TWO himes at the end, not one) If the others revived, why not Alyssa? Especially the part when Nao sees her mother back and repents?...Why can't Alyssa change also?

yes.. very intresting. Could it be that since other himes came back from the "dead"(Shizuru and Natsuki) that she might as well. Wasn't my idea by kurodou's. I just think that was a good way of thinking about it. Miyu "heard" Alyssa, then set them all free, and all who were gone, come back! *joy... happy ending!!*

i just kinda found it confusing, cuz while natsuki and shizuru were brought back, it was because they were each other's most important person... none of the other himes thought that about alyssa-chan.

Its called Mai-Otome, and you get to see lots of old characters in it too ^^;

hmm.. lots of thoughts there... think i've gotta go re watch mai hime all over again... honestly i was really disappointed with the ending.. though i'm always for happy ending.. but this is kinda ridiculous especially after you make the audience go through so much sadness seeing them die one by one.. the logical way should be that they remain as they are.. or that they got on with their life after having lost their loved ones...

so it's kinda ridiculous that they all can come back so easily.. kinda spoil the plot in front..

but then again.. having said that.. i'm glad they all came back.. i was feeling kinda bad for kazu kun who died so early in the show & without even knowing why!!!!!

Really? I had a different theory. Seeing how near the end, Natsuki and Shizuru remove each other, it's obvious that their special person was each other. Also remembering that the time that Natsuki couldn't call Duran was after she found out that Shizuru was lesbian (with her I might add), she lost faith in the person most important to her, so couldn't call Duran.
In their final battle, Natsuki decides to give it a go (by kissing Shizuru), as she is willing to try it, to be with Shizuru. As her liking for Shizuru is larger at this point, Duran is also proportionately stronger (the Child's strength increases as the HiME's love for that person grows).

Then again, your explanation is entirely plausible.

Finally, I think Mai-Otome is boring so far.

*SPOILER* In the first episode, the main character annoyed me so much with her gasps of amazement at the city. And the Otome suits look really wierd. Then again, that's just my opinion.*SPOILER*

what is mai otome about? thinking of watching it since its the same artist as mai hime and some of the characters are there but i dunno if its worth it or not

she is created with a hime's DNA, once hime is alive, after death, no matter how she dies, the soul is trapped, so that when alyssa's soul was free from the distruction of the temple, the soul goes back to the body, which was in the river or somewhere, and she will live again
