disclaimer:i've searched for such topics.and i found none so if there is another thread, forgive me.

basically, this is a rather controversial topic. so what do you think about people who commit suicide, or what do you feel about suicide, as a whole?

i think, it is really a person's life and so no-one should tell him as to when he should or should not die.enyway, in the end, you'lll die whether you like it or not.yes, i'm pro-suicide.honestly, i don't see what's the great deal about living. you live and die, in the end you lose everything. its true that without strict laws and social stigmas on suicide, many people would have attempted to take their lives already.but with their great value on life, they must feel that they have a worthy reason to die early.i mean, most people who commit suicide do so from fear, and they usually have no intention of dying had it not been for that one reason (or multiple reasons).

so that's my argument(or most of it).how about you? ~_~

there are two types of people...

1. pessimists...."im gona die anyways so why botter". if ur 1 of these, chances are ur not gona achieve much coz u dun have determination.

2.optimists ... "i know ill die but id rather live a life full of happyness, love and adventuring" they will try to do their bets in life.

im the bottom. also im religious... if i suicide in any form id go to hell...thats an incetive dont u think? :D

umm idk about ur country but in this one, ALLOT of young people try or suicide...


im fine if you want to die, but first go to a morge or hospital and look and a dead person or a dieing person. look at what they end up. think of what you action will do to ur family and friends.
if you still wana do it...fine ill come and know ur head off :D

be pessimistic so that youll never be disapointed and will live a happy life.

Well what would the point in being conscious in the first place be if you weren't going to try to achive everything possible and live forever? We don't know nearly everything there is to know and until then any sentient being should not even consider suicide an option.

I don't see how this is a controversial topic though. You can A. Die fast and be completely worthless, or B. Live out your life, try to do something helpful for the all sentient beings and possibly live forever if our technology advances enough within our live times. Hopefully the research on how to stop the aging process will be done before our deaths though...

I almost killed myself once.
But i'm scared of death.
Thats what saved me, but i don't want to talk further about it.
People that know me might know why.

im not a big fan of suicide... It for one goes against everything i beleive in. i feel very sorry for people that stoop so low to commit this.

Did you know that in gloomier territories without much sun, more people commit suicide. Life seems more worthless without stimuli to set your mind at ease. I've tasted death's breath before, it was always in dark situations ~ cause I used to be a night person (insomniac is a better term). Then again, my life isn't peachy either, so it would naturally happen anyway, the death calling. Most people hate to discuss this topic cause they start to think negative thoughts, or whatever reason, but for us that have been through it, it's common talk on an open level. Life is complicated, death can seem an easy exit. A lot of people love to take the easy road/path, but how does that change anything. Even though this reality may be altered, there are tons of "what ifs" still lingering and truths unseen.

I don't think that I'd ever do such a thing. However, I can understand, in certain extreme situations, where someone would consider it.

If someone is weak and selfish enough to give up on living then let him or her kill themselves. It just frees up resources for the people who actually want to live.

The question that is often overlooked is: why is killing wrong? Clearly, one reason why killing is wrong is because it is the act of depriving someone of their life. However, in terms of voluntary active euthanasia or suicide the person is in fact requesting to be killed or give their life away. This changes the moral basis dramatically.

we going to die anyway...why keep living and suffering ? if a person kill himself . is hir problem if that is what he wish (to die)

well..i once think i want to kill myself....but well...after failed i find that i want others things....that ain't have to do with suicide...(maybe i'll find what i'm locking for after i die..but well..while i keep waiting i'll do something with my life...if you can call this a life )

well...if you want to die them die...if you want kill yourself for others them do it...if you want kill yourself for a girl/boy . do it...anyway i'm not planing on kill myself...i'll just keep living until i get bored ..and them i'll do something about how to die...(if i'm not already death)

I would never suicide.
I’m not really afraid to die, well probably when the time comes i might be, but the thought of it doesn't bother me.
But for someone to commit suicide, for me means they are WEAK, taking the easy path.
Well i mean there are a lot of those types of people around.
I just think people can be a lot stronger then what they are, but they are so manipulated by the masses that they tend to turn weak-minded.

Oh and there was this type of thread somewhere here in the forums cant remember where but anyway.

I think it's a person's personal choice. People say that it's a selfish thing to do, but for someone to actually commit suicide, I think the furthest thing from their mind would be how it will effect others. True, others would be sad if you'd died, but in the end you live for yourself and not for others.

the thing with the let them die argument... is that allot of people who die are bellow 25. it is scientificly proven that untill 25 our brain is still largely developing. SO the decisions we make we might regret... if you die you wont be able to regret your desision.

lets say you have a right to die... well rights generally arent given when they impact other..
example
u suicide... you sister gets depresed and does aswell... both you parents get depresed but dont die. but live their last 40 years in a corner crying and blaming theirselves

many of you say suicide goes against morals and those that do so are selfish.but how are they selfish?arent the ones who want them to stay when they wanna die the selfish ones, keeping the person alive because they want the guy and not because he wants it?

anyway, you'll die in the end, and the later you die, the more things you'll lose.

you say that those who suicide are weak.but what if they're not weak, simply lazy.people are scared of death, no matter what they say, only they are scared in different ways and degeres.to kill yourself...i think it'd take some form of courage.many a times, they stop at the edge and turn back instead of continuing because someone else is there to pursuade them to...which shows that they don't really want to die, its only cos they feel they have no choice.so to kill yourself when you dont wanna die, i think that's somewhat brave

I think it depends on the situation. If the person is dying of lets say cancer and all the treatments have failed and all they have to look forward to is a long death filled with pain then they should be allowed to kill themselves if they wish. Rather then put themselves through that for no reason and put their relatives through the pain of watching them slowly waste away.

It is an escape. An excuse to leave people behind and not care one bit.
It only reflects a person's irresponsibility, defeat and weakness.
I disagree with duowolf. If i was a family member of that someone i wouldlike to see him fight for his life instead of just giving it all up. I will not want him to admit defeat.

Then again, to pache's comment on suicidal people's courage, why not have the courage to live life on and overcome problems in an alternative way? why not have the courage to stand up against problems instead of running away and leaving them to some other people? Think about it.

We just talked about suicide in our religion class. Some religious people think that it's a sin to take away your own life as it's a gift from the God but mostly suicide is committed when looking for help, when the person doesn't see another way how to solve the problems. But in my opinion it's just running away.

i agree with duowolf. suicide depends on the situation. if ur dying of an incurable painful disease... it doesnt hav to be cancer there are a few others that will kill u slowly and painfully... then it maybe preferable to take euthanasia but if its something else like ur boyfriend or girlfriend broke up with u then its not worth giving up your life.
i dont think that people who suicide is weak because it takes some sort of courage to take your own life. they probably had the wrong sort of things running through their mind at that time. i personally had thought about suicide once or twice but after a lot of thinking i realised that life is unfair so i decided to accept the ups and downs.

Suicide is selfish. People who commit it feel like they've nothing left in this world...they are just blinded by depression. Those who suicide probably do so to end "misery" because no one cares about them...and they probably kill themselves in hopes that someone will care.

Suicide is cowardish action. By commiting suicide, you are trying to escape from your troubles, something unmanly (eventhough you're a woman), coward, stupid, and worst:sinful.

No matter how hard life gets and whatever happened if you're "fed up" living you're probably not trying hard enough. Though most people will say there's only so much you can do, that's true but at the same time depending on what actions you take you can make anything you want to happen. Life isn't easy for anybody and it takes guts to live when you commit suicide you're kind of gypping everybody for the experience of meeting you and what you'll contribute to the world even if you think it to be in a minute way.
