Lurking -3-

I don't believe in that rule and I've seen that it IS NOT TRUE

I wacthed a lot of Discovery Channel when I have nothing to do,
and they made an experiment:

The conclusion after seeing the result was: NO MATTER HOW LONG THE FOOD HAS TOUCH THE FLOOR IT CONTAINS THE SAME AMOUNT OF BACTERIA!

soooooo I don't believe in that rule,
and if you don't believe me you should check the Discovery Channel Show:
Myth Busters ^^

If it's some sticky stuff like, let's say, soup, then not, but if it's dry like bisctuit or candy or something like that, then I can eat it. And I don't really take time...

Master Raenef,so cute! <

For me, it really depends on where I drop it. If I drop it inside my room for instance, I will still pick it up knowing that the floor is well maintained. If I'm outside the house, dropped food is considered gone. Who knows what stuffs might have been there.

I'll say it depends on the floor, the food, and the circumstances.

While I was in the army my sweet dropped on the dirt during field camp but it was one of the few things I would eat so I ate it anyway. The ground was dry of course, and so was the candy.

I think getting your body used to a few germs isn't a bad thing so I don't mind eating things that fall on the floor in my house. (unless it's impossible to pick up) I don't, under normal circumstances eat anything that falls to the ground outside though... lets the birds and ants do their job right?

Hope is an optimist

If the food is something dry, like potato crisps, and if the floor is relatively clean, then yes. 5 seconds is apt, but maybe quicker. A lot of my friends has dogs, and it may take them less than 5 seconds to eat whatever you've dropped ... so if you're gonna eat it, you have to basically grab it out of the air if you've dropped it....

if it's dry food, i guess it's no harm... heck, it'll be ten second for me if it was dry food... ^^

i dont caire where i drop it or anything
ill eat the food anyways
unless the floors black with dirt

If it dropped onto to the floor, I wouldnt want to pick it up! I might do so if it dropped onto the table or chair. LOL.

nope, once it falls on the ground i throw it away

Anyone who's ever seen German porn will suddenly realize that eating dropped food off the floor isn't the worst thing they could be doing.

yeah I follow it! Does anyone not? Although I don't count, the 5 seconds are kinda intuitive. And there are exceptions to the rul, like it it falls in mud.

depends on food and floor. usually at my house i don't mind because i know i keep my floors clean, but in my dorm, in public places, definite no no. also with dry foods. usually with dry foods i will eat it again, but with fruits, no way.

It really depends on where I am and what I'm eating. If the food is dry food (i.e french fries, etc) and I am eating on a generally clean floor (It doesn't need to have just been clean but it shouldn't have spills or such on it), I would eat it. It also depends on when I noticed that it fell down. After every meal, I find little tidbits that I didn't notice. I don't eat those..

Erm no lol
i just see if the surface i dropped it on is a reasonably clean one (like a table in my house or my clothing har har =_=)
definately not if its on the floor
or a table in a public place

Its an old wives tale. only if the food fell on the toilet seat (the cleanest area in the common household). Anyway, I watched Mythbusters...

I follow George Carlin's rule. Anytime, anywhere!

A fish should swim thrice: in water, in sauce, and in wine.

No, not the 5-second rule. I follow the rule about "where" it fell on the floor. Outside? No chance. On a clean part of indoor floor and the food being an easily washable food? Yes.

It usually depends on the food and what condition the floor was in. And the condition of the food after it hits the floor. So many factors, so little time.
