most of my friends want to make copies of my anime collection. I haven't collect for a while because i feel that the anime out now are really similar to each other. So far i havent seen any that caught my attention.

I never really have any reason to bring it up, not so much because of embarassment but simply because they couldn't pretend to be interested if they tried, so why mention it.

most people I know don't care for anime, some friends and gotten me into more such is why I have seen and read bleach. My wife gives me crap and say's "When are you going to stop watching those f@!#&* cartoons", and I just laugh.

I'm actually well known for my sizeable collection. The anime club at school almost treats me as a god. Others suck up to get some of it. Many scorn me and act as if hentai is all I collect.
Thats what gets me, actually. Yes, I have a few hentai series (13 total I believe), but its a small fraction compared to the amount of regular anime I have. Why should I be known for the hentai? My answer: People suck.
I usually don't tell people about my anime craze, because honestly it rarely affects my behavior. People usually find out about my ffxi obsession first...

I'm almost in the same boat as Mystfyre here. My collection has grown quite large of late and yet all I seem to ever hear about is the few hentai dvd's in the bunch. It seems now everytime I get a package in all I ever hear before I open it is "is it porn", knowing damn well it very rarely is. My friends in the states enjoy my collection overall but where I am now its anything but. So ultimately I come to the same conclusion as well... people suck.

It's kinda sad at school when there's no one to talk and get excited over the lastest episode of bleach or discuss how cute or cool the characters are. But I do know some friends who are into anime and manga too but we are such a small minority... :(

Well they don't really say anything except:
"Aaah! You got that manga!? I want that tooo, so unfair! *sob*"
or something familiar because they are into anime too <.<
Well the ones that are not into anime go like:
"Omg, you got lots of manga books!"

I may have gotten lucky somewhere along the road in this crappy life of mine. A few friends i hang around are actually interested in anime (I converted one of them, heh). Another good friend even has his own extensive collection to match again mine. As for what others think, i'll mention something about anime a bit, if i see any interest in the person i'm talking to, then i'll bring it up more in a conversation. If not, then i won't mention it again, would be pointless, but maybe entertaining to to bring it up knowing they dislike it just to spite a reaction out of them (Yes, i'm an a$$hole). Pulling people's strings is entertaining.

My friends are a slightly varied subject as toward where they stand on anime. A third understand it, the others are just like "What the crap is anime?" My collection's nice though, It's gotten alot of positive commentary from either side.

my friend and I are in constant competition to see who can collect more... currently I outclass him in sheer volume of artbooks lol. But he does outclass me in dvd collection by about 100 dvds. So yeah its good to have friends that enjoy anime as well.

My friends think I'm insane when they how much anime/ manga I've got. My friends used to see anime, but now I'm almost the only one of my age at school that watch anime series.... sniff.

i also copied my anime pics into my cellphone so i can let them transfered it to their cellphone (with bluetooth not MMS)...they like it, n i like them like it ^_^

I am very territorial and protective of my Anime and I don't share it with just anyone. In the past when I have let others like my friends into my most sacred and precious world and opened my heart to them they called me a freak and threw trash at me so I'm not so forth coming about what I let people see. Any kind of negativity can change my memories recall stream and I need that stream to remain untainted and pure. So many times one of my loser friends or just some dumbass on the street almost ruined the Anime memory I was recalling because they threw me into a bad mood and broke my concentration. That makes me TWITCH like no body's business. When I do get into a bad mood then the rest of my precious memories can't come through clearly and that in turn pisses me off even more! I know I am crazy when it comes to Anime...I know because like a billion people have told me so and because I know that no sane person would lust after Anime characters but I no longer care what others think and I just focus the remainder of my energy in keeping dirty unworthy hands off my most precious of memory recall devices. Protect them with my life and even in death I'll hardly come back to a realm like this one...all dying, no magic but good thing it is very rich in Anime. If it hadn't have been for Anime I know I would have killed myself the second my dad left my mom so that is why I say; "all parse the land of lesser gods. All hale Japan the land of lesser gods...conduits to the memory recall devices that we all love." WOOOOO HOOOOO!

I am in the competition boat my self, though my and my friends collections are small in comparison to those listed here, we have done pretty well so far. (they just cost too darn much to buy in bulk.... T.T )

I'm pretty much in the same boat as TSPhoenix.
However, when I do bring it up people usually say,"Oh, it's Japanese cartoons right?" :angry: Either that or they're so uninterested that they change the topic instantly.
But I am lucky in that some of my friends who aren't intersted in it don't knock me for it. They understand that it's something I enjoy and don't write it off as a childish hobby. They repect me. So I think that's pretty cool of them.

most of my friends dont know and I plan not to tell them cause well they think im wierd enough already XD but the two who do know about it well the 1st one keeps on trying to steal my Fake dvd and the 2nd one we compete to see who can get more. He even went the extent of calling me up at 2am when we was on holiday in the US just to tell me the amazing anime dvd store he found. Then he called back at 3am to tell me all the dvds he bought to make me jealous
