Well on halo and such, that's trash talking. That's what people do when they compete. On forums, people are generally nicer. A lot of times, in forums, people sound mean because it's harder to convey things like friendly sarcasm in just words.

Well, I haven't really run into alot of people who are mean, but my friend has, actually, they'll be racist to him and make racial remarks.
Alot of times it gets us PO'd cause we are minding our own business and some guy just pops up being mean and racial. I dunno why they do that, but it pisses us off.
But it's just best to avoid people like that and/or ignore them.

There are no social repercussions to being rude online. You don't know the people with whom you play online, and they don't know you. Of course, not being a spaz helps stop people from being mean to you. I don't know you so I don't know if you're a spaz or not. Just giving you a heads up.

very simple :
most of online gamers are small kids that play a very long time every day. They get better and they think they are the best. When they think they are the best : they are going to think they are the best in real world aswel...They are going to demand respect...
They are going to lose grip on reality and they think they can do anything...just because they are good in some game...

its sad really...

I never go in to anything... because it's just not worth it...
When he gets to annoying then you have the whole server supporting you... You just make sure the annoying guy leaves the server by killing him, Team killing him, ...

to piss me off online is fairly easy. i like to be a team player, so sticking with guys on shooters online really gets them mad at me. to use CS as a good example, tons of head shot piss me off, especially when they only spot you for a split second. being taken out by those maniacs is completely degrading since no one who plays CS should be novice cause novices are mere target practice.

also, when people start using me as the usual punching bag i really get pissed off at them. this brings back to the whole team player thing. they either use me as the cannon fodder or they just abandon me to the wolves who know how to play better than i am. i'm just glad i don't act like that in real life cause those people have serious problems.

when it comes to forums, people are mean either because they are in real life, they just want to rattle you up, or they can't come up with an excuse or equivalent counterpoint to your own *cough*conservative right*cough*.

They are mean cause they know that u can't hurt them and it's funny to cus someone out. It's a way for someone who knows that he/she couldn't say those things to someone right in front of them and be able to win a fight if they started one. That's what i've come to believe.

Well, once you have lived in your basement for days on end I think you'd end up in not the best mood. Overall it's probably because others aren't "nice" and thereby influence others to "not be nice" either. It's just a way of being aggressive and fitting in IMHO.
