I've been following this game since they first announced it back in '03 sometime and oh man I'm so jealous that it'll be released in like 3 days over in Japan :( haha... looking at all the promotions and advertisements they have going on over in Japan for the release of the game is getting me so excited haha but too bad I live in NA and we won't see the game probably until Fall '06 sometime :(

I can't wait to read the reviews of the game when its released. It looks absolutely amazing!

Is there anyone here who is going to be getting the Japanese release of FF12? If you are send one to me too! haha jkjk

Quite the quandry this game is causing. On one hand the game has already got a perfect score from Famitsu, which is only like the 6th game ever to do so. And it is a Final Fantasy so I'm naturally pumped for a new one. But, after playing the demo I can say that I'm not quite as excited, as I personally found the demo to be quite bad. I don't like the fact that I can beat a boss by hitting X three times, and taking a nap while my party does all the work. Who knows, it is just a demo afterall... but I still have an uneasy feeling. Looks like I'll just have to wait and make that decision when the game comes out.

Under construction. Who doesn't like plain text anyway?

I heard famitsu give it the 40/40 qualification, the fifth game in the story of the magazine to receive it.
And just like everyone else I can`t wait anymore to put my hands on it. Between this game and zelda my pasciense has grown like never before, I´m like a budhist monk now :

i can't wait. i got the demo and played it a ton. i think the game will be really good.

I dunno about it... I don't have as much hype as I did for wen ff X came out. i'll probably get the jap version anyway once skool is done and play to see how it is... must stay loyal to my final fantasy series

I guess it'll be alright, im not going to be rushing out to go get it though.
I have to admit that it looks very smooth, the people are smooth, although its the same as the other FF's the faces still look lifeless in game.
I cant really comment too much on it till i actually decide to play it. I dunno, they jsut dont have the same effect they had on me years ago. So im gonna wait a while till i decide to go and buy it. I love most FF's, dont get me wrong. I would have suggested they release this game along with the PS3, sales would go through the roof. TO play FF12 you need a PS3, but they decided to relase it on the PS2.
Cheers

i've been tired of waitin this FF 12...... it keeps draging the releasing date..........
i know that i'm over excited of this game, but what square-enix is doin now just makes me feel tired of waiting -_-

Could it be you?

Yeah, Square-Enix does have the annoying habit of delaying dates... look at Advent Children for example...

But damn right about being excited about FF XII, the new system's gotta rock. The Final Fantasy never did let me down.

Kudos to k1ru!

meh I hated FF XI...I wasted so much money on that just to find out it's just not very FF feeling...it's well an MMORPG and that's not FF...I stopped playing FF after the release of FF X-2..just ruined it all :( I won't be buying this I'll prolly just download the jap version

Yes, i agree with the post about the perfect faimatsu score. i've also been on the ff12.com site since it was put up a few years ago, and they've been putting vids and sample music. the music for the game has that great ff tactics feel :) so does the scenery and the way the game progresses. if you haven't seen the new opening vid that's been posted, go to youtube.com and view it. (type in final fantasy xii in the search or something). i also watched my brother play the demo, and it had much different gameplay. some may say it takes away what it is to be final fantasy, but then others will know it is reminiscent of the online game ff 11. i never got into that game b/c i know it would have sucked my life away and i would be currently a 6th year college freshman, but i graduate this may, so i'm glad that everything got pushed back till this fall (ps3 launch, ff12, zelda twilight princess? and when the heck is the revolution coming out!?) so anyways, yes i am excited about the game. with the exception of mystic quest (which still wasn't SO bad that i didn't sit my butt down and beat it anyways), i have never been dissappointed in a final fantasy game, or really any squaresoft game, for that matter.

Has anyone read the impressions from IGN about the Japan release? From the review it seems like FFXII is unlike any FF that has been released previously, and it sounds absolutely amazing!

Here's a link for those of you interested in reading: IGN FFXII review

The part on Gambits sounds very interesting and I'm so anxious to try it out and see if it adds yet another level of depth to battles. The licenses seems like the sphere grid back in FFX, where you get land on that sphere and unlock it to learn that spell, but in FFXII's case you unlock the license to be able to learn that spell, or use that sword, etc. very intruiging. I loved the sphere grid back in FFX, so hopefully this new license bit is just as good, or if not better, than that old sphere grid. The reviewers reference to FFXI makes me even more excited about this game (I used to play FFXI and loved it because of the luscious environments). After reading the review, my overall reaction was, 'I want this game... NOW!" haha

I got the Japanese version and tried it for a few minutes, My impression of the game is very positive.

I can't wait until the English release!

Yep, its based under FF Tactics; but my dissapointment is that none of the old cast seem to be making a reappearance.

And even though they are using the grid system, many old time FF fans are unhappy about the drastic change in the battle system; homage to the change of director as well.

I'm looking forward to it but to be honest the overall storyline doesn't interest me all that much. I'm hoping that the game playing isn't going to be as straight forward as FFX as of now also (you didn't even need to think of where you were supposed to go it was practically a straight line >_>). What I am interested in is the new game play they made for it so I guess you could say that makes up for the storyline a bit for me ;)

I want the game since i played the demo.

I am currently playing FFX and it is my first FF game. If I get FFXI and FFII do they have an offline game or am I required to play online to play?

FFXII doesn't look too great. I don't know, but it seems that the general consensus and I disagree. I love FFVII (sure it's great now, but back then people ragged on it a lot) and same with FFX and FFX-2, I love those, though many consider it to be terrible. The other FF, like IV and VIII and IX were pretty good, as all FF are decent or better IMO, but I didn't love them too much. Seven and Ten and Ten-Two were really enthralling to me, though.

I also feel your poll is missing the option that goes along the lines of "I love FF, but I'm not excited about FF12"

Got to give it to you there. I love the FF series to death although I question what they were high on while making some of them but overall the series is terrific with storylines and game play which is what has made them so popular. In truth I think that FFXII is being a bit overated. The only thing I'd probably agree on with reviews is the awesome improvements on the CG they have in it.

Actually I think quite a few people like FFX, it's FFX-2 that most people think was awful (though I can't say I'm one of them :D).

Anyways, you're right about that poll choice haha let me see if I can still add it in :P

YEAH! I can't wait I saw some ign trailers and the graphics are tight as always. And the plot seems really interesting X]

O_O I just saw the first video of the game, the one that plays at the begining with the wedding and the war, it`s awesome! those FMVs are superb, and just looking at that six minutes video I got an idea of how good the story is going to be.

I'm pumped! I even went out and reserved both the game and the strategy guide! Now I know what you're all thinking and the guide is for REFERENCE... not cheating! I don't like to cheat... I just like to make sure that I haven't missed anything before moving to the next area... past the point of no return.

FFXI does not have a offline play. The battle system is like FFXI except instead of time intervals it is going by the bar. (which close enough) The storyline for FFXII seems to be something to look up to.

but i hope it's ps2 version. XD
