Replacing part of an image

Here's the story...

I got this wallpaper for my PC.

But unfortunately its got a calendar in it which I wanted to remove so I decided to use Photoshop and as you can see the end result is half not as good as initially dreamt. So I come to you guys... please advise.

I basically used the clone tool to replace that texture but as you can see the texture is not of one colour, its almost a sequence.

Rather than correcting and then posting, please post the tutorial of how you would go about removing the calendar text, so I can learn as well.
