Try speaking to yourself what you are reading. It certainly works for me.
For the enemies of Humanity are many, chief amongst them being the Minions of Chaos & the foul Daemons of the Warp.

Start early and write notes.
If it helps, write down flash cards- get some cards and write a point on each card. On the back, write down what the question might be:
Example:
When was Palladio born?
Answer: 1508.
And when you can answer the question without having to flip over the card, you should be fine.
Start writing notes in advance, use colours (but not yellow because it makes you forget more), and try to make your notes look dynamic instead of a large chunk of text. If you remember things visually, do little pictures, draw a comic, use colours.
Use (not yellow) post it notes and stick them around the house. On the wall, on your desk, on your computer, even on the shower glass if your shower is encased in glass. Even on the mirror if you are brushing your teeth.
The key to revision is also memorisation- and before memorisation, try to ask your teachers exactly what you need to study, so you don't need to study more than you need.
Hope that kinda helps :)

You know that studying the night before helps, or a few nights before. When you sleep, the answers are stored in long term memory. That's when the brain organizes information and if you re-read the next day, you can solidify your knowledge much better than just studying 10 minutes before an exam. The way that works for me is to study days before and then having a study session 2 hours before the exam. Then, I just listen to music and don't talk to anyone really, I relax my mind, don't try to use it what so ever except to enjoy something like music ^_^
hope that helps

CUE CARDS ARE MY LIFE. Writing stuff out helps you remember :]~
Also: you remember about 90% of what you teach, so get your friends to ask you questions and have "group sessions" etc.!
GOOD LUCK!

I like kuroimisa's tips. hmm...never knew that yellow makes you forget...wonder how that works :o
What's most important is...finding what's right for you. Everyone has their own learning style. You might learn by seeing things, doing it, hearing it, etc.
Whatever you do, get enough sleep the night before the test. Maybe you're one of those people who can function forever on only four or five hours a night, but...most people? Right. Students tend to make dumb mistakes with not enough sleep. Brain aren't running at their best when they haven't had enough rest. And...let's face it, last minute cramming only makes you more nervous, perhaps even causing you to forget the basics in your stress!
When reading those often boring textbooks, it's helpful to read through the chapter more than once. This is one way I've heard works for people.Scan the headings of the chapter first to get a sense of what the chapter is about. Read the first and last sentences of paragraphs.
Read the chapter thoroughly, taking notes of bolded words. Take a break and come back some time later.Read it again, this time highlighting what you think is important. (If you highlight the first time around, you might not know what is important or not and highlight too much.)
Now, you can read it again, but just the highlighted parts. This way, you can gloss over the things that you already know or go back on focus on things you don't understand yet, all the time knowing that you're not missing something important.
Gloss over it again as needed. =]
This method may seem...long lol, but it goes faster once you get in the rhythm of it. :)
