An Alaskan Sunrise
As the sky brightens the sun strikes the mountain peaks
Causing them to ring with a golden silence so profound
It deafens all that can see it.
The sound races across the snow covered land
Making soundless music as it flows across mountain and plain.
Pouring into the valleys the sound strikes both calm and fast waters
Causing them to resound with deep toned color
Or shattering the sound into spritely notes that tip each ripple
As the new day begins and the darkness retreats
The silence is broken by the birds and the beasts
The morning has broken darkness' grip
Bringing warmth and light to all
And so it will remain until the next darkness falls.
A poem that partially came to me while watching the day dawn near the Wrangel Mountains
in Alaska. Tell me what you think.
