In my opinion the PS2 is the best console. The graphik is good and it doesn't cost too much.
"Sony rules" ^^
While it doesn't have the "best" hardware, it has (imo) the best games. That is the PS2 of course.
ps2 4 life!
My choice is PS2 for game selection and quality, but Xbox for graphics. I don't really care much for Gamecube.

I agree, defenitely PS2, although I haven't had time to try out the other types of consoles.
~beautiful....~
I don't think people are thinking broad enough. The GBA.
This little thing is so popular and there is a huge range of decent games on this machine.
Plus, I am sure alot of people have the emulators and roms. With that, it is one of the best ones to play on the PC as
there isn't a excessive amount of buttons.
I'd say PS2 is my favorite/best choice of game consoles. Especially since i can play my old PS games as well. Also, it has the widest range of game genres.
For Consoles I would have to say PlayStation2 its my favorite and it has so cool games! :)

My personal favourite: Playstation2
Probably the DS, it plays the huge back catalogue of GBA games and then on top of that the selection of DS games, most of which are good and fun games.
The PS2 does have a hell of a lot of games though, the fact that it has the worst hardware this gen doesn't really matter because of that.
Psh! The best gaming machine isn't a console. It's the Commodore 64. No other gaming machine will give you a greater variety of games, and the only reason you would dislike it is because you're hung up on graphics.
If I must nominate a console, I'd have to say the Sega Genesis/Megadrive and the Super Nintendo, pretty much for the same reason as with the C64 (except just for consoles, that is.)

Was an Apple IIe w/TV adapter for me but yeah. It's still fun to fire up the emulator and use the massive power of my Athlon 64 to play Dig Dug.

Thinking back on how much fun I had with each console, I'd vote for the original NES followed very closely by a three way tie between the SNES, PSX, and later the PS2.

My younger brother has GameCube for my niece. It seems to be a really good system. As for myself, however, I think the AMD Athlon 64 3200+-based Windows PC with more than 1GB of DDR memory & 128mb+ of Video memory is the best bang for the buck as a gaming platform. Especially with real-time strategic sims.
For the enemies of Humanity are many, chief amongst them being the Minions of Chaos & the foul Daemons of the Warp.

As long as you installed DOS Box so you can play all those old classic DOS games without any useless compatibility
problems.
PS2 RULES THE WORLD...........! XD
but that's before PS3 coming out...... :p

Man, I can't pick one. I own NES, SNES, PS2, Gamecube and they're all great. Well, Cube's not that hot, really. But it does have Super Smash Bros Melee and Twin Snakes.
I'll just say SNES because of good ol' rpg's.
I missssss playin the rpg games. I used to own a ps2 till it broke down. And i brought an xbox to replace it. man! the graphics were awesome but it gets old sometimes cuz your used to it. To me the ps2's good for it's Role playing games . To sum it up, i have an xbox , i rock in halo, i'm the godfather in Def Jam. XBOX WINS!.... 'pleez ps2 fans don't kill me'

There are alot of PS2 fans here. It probably was the best console considering the amount of support on the system. Big companies such as EA, Square, Capcom and whatever elses is mainstream really kicked in the games for it. The Xbox lacked some of that plus, they gave up too early I think to do the 360.
I still believe the GBA was the best. Only because they had a huge backtrack of all the previous games on their system. Retro never died and always sold strong.
