I look around my school and see all these girls wearing designer stuff and showing off, thinking they can impress anybody. The thing which upsets me is that they really do! -_- I don't have anything against designer clothes, but I just hate show-offs who think they're better than everybody because they have more expensive clothes or accesories.

It's a sad thing most people today focus on the way they look and not on the intelligence part of a person when they meet. But I don't deny intelligence and beauty make a great couple! :)

hm wel i totaly agree with u.. i'm a gurl who love to wear a sport clothes , sweaters and stuff like that, and didnt care so much to put make up or wear this year fashion i just wear what i love to wear i have my own style ^_^ i dunt care for other and for sure i dunt want people to love me for what i wear i want them to love for what i am... lol i even sometime go to university with wearing my pijamas >_< hehe

well i'm a girl that loves to wear designer clothes =[ but that's because that is who i am. im not much for the whole individuality thing and i know this. i have been told time and time again that i am very close to what society would call an average person. but that's because i dont want to stand out. if you do then more power to you for having individaulity, something that i do not. but i dont think that i am better then everyone else. not at all.

also it is sad that people focus on beauty now a days. but then again when people mean "beauty" they mean those that are labeled as "popular" and when people mean "popular" they mean people that stay close to what soceity wants. but that's fine because that what they want i cant change their mind. but thats not me. i total like this guy who has seriously streamed far from mainstream society but thats ok becuase what i like about him is his intelligence. he makes me think and i like that, since not many people now a days can seriously make me wonder.

Who does not like to show off? We do one way or another in certain part (or for some most part) of our life. The reason for showing off?
1. We believe and love what we SEE.
2. We like to amuse ourselves by looking at or by others.
3. Showing off is how we like to draw attention, not because there are no other way there, but for the fact that it is EASY TO DO.

Showing off is not always associated with clothings.
1. Those who are fools, show off with clothes.
2. Those who are smart or intelligent (or at least they think or someone told them), show off with words.
3. Those who are clever, play different roles (not roles in drama or something like that) with different people to show off.
4. Those who are beautiful (facial and physical), show off with well, you name it......hahahhahaha.
5. Those who are stupid, show off by trying to immitate others or try to do what others like.....etc.

Life is like that. Unconsciously or consciouly we all show off. It is one of the greatest weaknesses humans have. That's why wise man don't have time to think about others, for they know showing off is of no use. People like us, who are by no chance WISE enough, try to define SHOW OFF by associating it with objects. But we forget the fact that showing off can be found in ANYWHERE IN ANYTHING, whether that is BIOLOGICAL (Ahem!), OR MATERIAL.

You mentioned girls in school trying to show off. How pathetic is that. On one hand they show off to all guys, or particual guy. It is as if "Look I am here for sale, buy me!" No offense to all the girls out there, but that's how their ID feels (ID as in psychology: ID, EGO, SUPEREGO). Guys are not out of the picture either. They think strength, big muscle, height, cool materials all are nice way to DRAW girls to them. Ironic, outside, they deny. Inside they crave! hahhhahaha.
If you hate show off, then ask yourself this question. What is causing us to show off. You will find that even 3 or 4 generations back, people showed off little. Now we all do. What is causing this change? Is it materials or our lack of self-understanding? Is it lack of knowledge or lack of self-judgement? Is it lack of knowing others or lack of consciousness?

Not everyone likes to show off.
Though you speak some truth when you wrote that; "believe and love what we SEE", since about 90% of what we experience comes from our eyes.
I dislike with great intensity being the center of attention (not that I am), showing off is only for weak minded individual that NEED the attention of others for some reason that I am unable to conceive.
Also, just because someone is intelligent, clever, stupid, fools, etc by nature doesn't mean they try to show off. Some people are naturally born genius, is it their fault that others can't follow what he/she says.
However, I will agree that people, unfortunately, have the tendencies, and mostly act like that.
