coz
1. iraq's army was destraoyed in 91

That was a misconseption. Much, much of the Iraqi Army remained intact (as they were never deployed to Kuwiat or in the vicinity of the Saudi Arabian/Iraq where the bulk of the conflict took place. Following the agreement made with Arab Allies, the US did not launch an invasion of Iraq in 1991. Infact, 50% of the Republican Guard survived the Coalition onslaught. Proof of the fact the Iraqi Army was not completely destoryed was the fact they were used to put down the Kurdish uprising in northern Iraq following the end of the Gulf War.

Quote: 2. iraq has oil

So does Venezula, Libya, Russia, heck even Canada and numerous other Countries that are memeber of OPEC. It would have been eaiser to invade Venezula if oil was our motivation. Even for the sake of aurgument it was for oil, once production in Iraq is stable and consistent, there is nothing to stop them from rejoining OPEC. (nullifying the oil argument).

Quote: 3. u tried to invade north korea aka korean war.

You leave out the fact the US participated in the Korean War in response to a UN resolution for military intervention against the North's invasion of the South. Had it not been for the intervention of China, there might not have been a North Korea to worry about today. You forget that following the Second World War, the American people were weary of war, and were'nt to thrilled to have become involved in another. Yet we did and at least saved South Korea.

Quote: ...but by the same token its not that smart to try invading every single country that anger you.

Yet with the capability at the US warfighters disposal, no one need set foot on North korean soil to incapacitate their war potential (or at the very least render their missile launching capapability impotent).

Lets be honest. First of all, the Chinese attitude toward the Korean peninsula is a pleased one. With the split and tense states, the peninsula is no longer a "back door" from which other nations can use to invade. I feel that world's nations are in a bad position, especially America, Japan, and South Korea. With the missile test come uncertainties. Is Kim Jong Il just showing off, making a political statement, or is he actually serious in developing missiles that can reach America? Many North Koreans express contempt for Americans, thus America is a likely target.

However, what can be done? If America, or even the UN, leads a coalition to retaliate against North Korea, China may see this as a prelude to a foreign invasion of their own country and aid the North Koreans. Thus begins a bloody war with possibly millions of casualties and may spark a nuclear war. Alternately, airstrikes could be launched on North Korean missile bases, and maybe even Pyongyang, the North Korean capital. However, no amount of explosives would stop the N. K. army from launching an invasion of the South. Another solution would be to pressure China into the coalition, part of which would push down from the North. Though, the chances of cooperation would likely be slim.

With this missile test, it is obvious tensions are rising. I feel that all nations are now more vulerable than ever with such delicate balancing acts that are required by the international community. Of course, with out such balancing acts, we would have all probably been wiped out by a nuclear holocaust during the Cold War.
