MINITOKYO COMMON PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS
This thread contains several problems members have faced with in the past and the common solutions to fixing them. If the following does not work or does not help, you may ask a moderator POLITELY, query it at the Complaints Thread if it is related with restrictions/bans/ or deletion of artwork(s), or you may make a thread in the Bug Reports Forum.
BOTCHII MESSAGES: ARTWORK HAS BEEN
DELETED
Symptoms:
- You have just received one or more PMs (Private Messages) from BotChii that one of your submissions have been
deleted.
Reasons:
You have submitted an artwork which was deemed inappropriate and/or violating MiniTokyo Policy, therefore a moderator has deleted them from the gallery. Please note that it is not
BotChii who deleted the artwork. BotChii is only an automated BOT which sends automated messages.
Solution:
There is nothing you can do. If a moderator has deleted your artwork/scan, usually, it means that it won't come
back and you are not allowed to submit it again, unless
- you believe there was a mistake in deleting the artwork (for example, it wasn't a rip)
- you think it was an unjustified deletion
- you have received the BotChii PM stating that the artwork was deleted because it was corrupted (in this case, in your
re-submission you must state that you have re-submitted it for this
reason.)
In any of the above cases where you disagree with the moderator's decision on deletion of the artwork, you may query it at the Complaints Thread under the condition that you GIVE THE DIRECT URL TO MINITOKYO GALLERY ITEM THAT WAS DELETED. This means that links to ImageShack uploads will not be accepted.
If your wallpaper was deleted beacuse it was deemed to be low quality, you may still post it in The Sandbox Forum where it will be given hints, guides and suggestions on improving your skills.
CREDITS HAVE DISAPPEARED
Symptoms:
- Sudden loss of vast amount of credits
Problem:
Unlikely to be a bug or a problem, but due to member's activity.
Reasons:
It could be one or more of the following:
- You have recently submitted an artwork (credit cost for submission is shown on the submission page and it varies for
each member).
- You have posted lots of very short comments in the forums/galleries. Posts which are less than 50 characters long
result in deduction of credits.
- You have created new threads.
- You have used up your free download quota and has used credits to download more.
If you have not done any of the above, but have lost hundreds of credits without any reason, you may contact a moderator.
MY AVATAR/SIGNATURE WON'T UPLOAD //
AVATAR/SIGNATURE IMAGE IS NOT CHANGING
Symptoms:
You have just uploaded a new avatar or signature, but the image is not changing on your browser.
Solution:
Go to Internet Options on your browser and clear out the cache and refresh page.
If this doesn't work (it should though), try clearing out the cookies as well.
CANNOT VIEW ANY IMAGES FROM
MINITOKYO
Symptoms:
- Cannot view ANY images from MiniTokyo.
- Other sites work fine.
- Using a different browser works.
Most Likely Problem:
You have blocked off all images from MiniTokyo without knowing.
Solution:
Firefox users: Right click on ANY image from MiniTokyo that is not showing up, and under the menu displayed, select
"Unblock images from download.minitokyo.net". Refresh page.
IE users: Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced Tab then select the option "Show images" (something on
those lines). It should be the first tickbox in the list.
I don't know about other browsers, but you should be able to do the same thing under Internet Options for any browser.
NOTIFICATION NUMBER IS
WRONG
Symptoms:
- Notification number shown is different to the actual number of notifications received.
- You have no notifications, but are shown to have one or two.
Solution:
This isn't really a problem, but people do come and ask quite often. It is usually due to a ghost notification
(which I must admit, do not know what causes it in the first place). If you don't like the misleading notifications
count, Purge All option sets the notif count back to zero (as well as deleting
all your notifs).
BROWSING OPTIONS DO NOT
STAY
Symptoms:
You have set a certain browsing option for a certain gallery such as Female Scans only, but when you click > or
>> or >>|, your page resets back to showing you the Whole Gallery.
Problem & Solution:
Apparently this is due to category names having spaces in between. Quoting Tama-Neko:
Quote by Tama-NekoI believe this is a bug when the title name has spaces in it. Also, the browsing is a bit buggy when you try to restrict the galleries to specific items (ie group scans, or indy art). Right now the best bet to restrict gallery view is to increase the number in the box on the left where it says which gallery page number you want to visit. The forward/back arrows will generally take you to the full gallery.
So the only thing you can do is to use the Page option and type in the page you want and raise it as you look through the gallery.
ABANDONED GROUPS
Problem:
Your group no longer has any moderators or administrators, leaving it with only members who are incapable of running the
group. In this case,
Solution:
Go to this thread and give a link to your group. Link: Reviving abandoned
groups
GROUP NAME IS THE SAME AS A USER'S
USERNAME
Problem:
You click to go to one of your groups, but find that it leads you to a member's userpage who has the same username
as the name of your group.
Solution:
Go to this thread and give a link to your group. Link: Group URL Refers to
Member's Userpage with the Same Name
I WANT TO CLOSE MY
ACCOUNT
Solution:
There is nothing you can do. If you want to leave MT, then you can just leave and let it be. You may wish to leave a
note in your userpage that you have left. DO NOT CREATE THREADS SAYING THAT YOU WILL BE
GONE.
I GET A CONTROL PANELl/SQL ERROR
Problem:
You get the following message when opening up Control Panel.
Quote:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1
Query:
SELECT even, a FROM user_css WHERE id =
Solution:
First try logging out and then logging back in. If that does not resolve the issue, then log out anyway and clear
MiniTokyo cookies & caches. Normally this will resolve the issue.
CORRUPT GALLERY ITEMS
Problem:
Your submission does not load. Instead, you get "(c) 2004" type of msg in the img box. No matter how many
times you try uploading or updating your item, it is not fixed.
Solution:
In this case, it is not your connection or MT that is the problem. It is YOUR GALLERY ITEM that is the problem. It is
most likely that the image is saved under CMYK colour mode rather than RGB mode. Save your work again in RGB mode and
re-upload to fix the problem.
You can easily change the colour mode by copying the image on Photoshop, click "New," change the initial colour mode to RGB then paste the image on the empty canvas. Save. Problem solved.
