I did have SOMETHING like that happen to me. I remembered the dream when it happened in real life, it was only for a few moments though, but it definately seemed like a premonition. Only problem was that I didnt remember it until the event jogged my memory. Aside from that, I've had many cases of Deja vu where I vividly remember dreaming it or at least KNOWING that it had happened or was GOING to happen. Humans have a ways to go in understanding our brain

Strangely, it's happened many times and now I'm questioning whether it is coincidence or not.

I don't think that I would call it deja vu. I don't know what I would call it. It was probably just guilt but it was so real. The day before I was at my Grandmother's house and I had been mad at my parents for something, I don't even remember what. But I didn't pay attention to my Grandmother and just stayed outside. She had asked me to come inside and see her but I ignored her. After we left I felt guilty but I knew we were going back to her house that weekend. That night I had this nightmare that she was sleeping and I went to wake her up and she wouldn't wake up. I tried everything and nothing worked. All of the sudden I woke up and I knew that something was wrong, I knew she wasn't ok. I knew that I should call my grandfather. But I didn't. That next morning, he couldn't wake her up, she was in a comma.
Events that I don't want to get into, and that anger me greatly, stopped me from getting to the hospital later that day to say goodbye and to say sorry. If only I had called that night and if only I hadn't been a jerk.
I was a wreck for months over what I had done and what I should have done. I didn't tell anyone about the dream in fear that they would have blamed me or not have believed me. Then I had another dream, again of my Grandmother. She told me it was ok and that it wasn't my fault. When I woke up I could smell Lilacs, her favorite flower. (I didn't have any Lilacs in my room)

Had it a few times, I always strive to prevent whatever I see from happening, despite the fact that most of my deja vus are entirely banal. - I've yet to succeed in this attempt, as I commonly do not remember the deja vu until it happens.

I believe dreams can be many things.
It can be a premonition of things to come
It can be past memories
It can be an emotional feeling that is buried deep inside ur mind.
It can be something else..
I think we should not always believe what we dreamt will come true, or otherwise. Just put it into consideration, that is all..

I had cases like that while I was awake (but I didn't necessarily dream it) and two cases in particular where it was dream-to-life.

The first:

In this dream, I was walking along the sidewalk on our house, towards my house. Everything was bathed in what looked like the colors of a sunset or sunrise--you know, rosy red, orange, golden yellow. Anyway, I get to the porch and open the mailbox. There's a letter inside, specifically an acceptance from a college that I applied to a couple of months ago in real life. Two days later, in the late afternoon, my mom (who works at the post office) comes home all smiles and gives me a large envelope. It's the same damn acceptance letter! That creeped me out for days. -_-'

Second time:

This is a bit more complicated, so I'll explain as best as I can. This was one of those odd "dreams-within-dreams". The dream-in-the-dream was brightly colored and took place on some kind of island paradise. Suddenly a crowd of strangers with creepy, Stepford-wife smiles on their faces come up and offer me fancy food on silver plates. I decline and turn to leave, and then they start chasing me, begging me to take their gifts. Odd...

The actual dream itself was black-and-white. I woke up early in the morning and went downstairs to talk to my mom about the dream before she went to work.

Now, when I actually DID wake up, it was early in the morning, and I went downstairs and talk to my mom about the dream, just like I did in the dream. Confusing? It was to me too, so much so that I actually looked around and asked if this was a dream as well. My mom assured me it wasn't and left. But just to make sure, I poked myself repeatedly with a needle. I was asleep...and my finger was sore. -_-'
