I know that maybe someone might have brought out some ideas of this but i thought it would be better if i just brought it up again...

lately there is only four member status (Admin Mod, Elite and member)
i thought maybe minitokyo should have more classified status like Artistic member or Postfanatic member and so forth....

Seeing just member could really bore you ( for me haha in another forum it thrills me to get a diff status ;) )sometimes i though maybe if having this member ranking it would spark more enthusiast and make minitokyo more lively... Having a ranking system give some people more purpose to being in the MT community....
So how about it? I just thought i got other member views on it ;) before i go to the boss ;)

Just another question...
Why is minitokyo called mintokyo ?
lol i meant how was it discovered and named that way?

( just notice my thread does not link to what im saying >_<... ahhh i cant change the name..)

EDITED:
oh well darn again im still so new in MT....

oh well ill just ilustrate abit...
there was for credit system... but i thought maybe using the participation and artistic system as use for the classification....

it would be great given more different status and im sure some people would like being named other then member...Give them a some status among other members...

Welll i thought maybe it would boost people's enthusiasm if it they were to be recognised for their artwork or their participation in the forum....

I know what you mean, but we have so many members and such ranks you're talking about. How easily can they be put to use on the members? Yes, I do agree it would make the place more interesting, I'm interested to know how such a thing would work. As for the last question, maybe someone else knows that answer xD Not me.

That does sound kind of fun and interesting. However, you might look at your "Title" as something such as you describe already. The way I look at it, you can give yourself your own title as it is, or you can be given a title depending on your usage or participation.

As far as calling it a "ranking" system, I'm not sure if you were here for MTv2 prior to this, but there was a ranking system in place of the credits system. It controlled your downloads and so on. So what you are asking could only be for show. It's a novel idea, not sure if the big man would go for it however.

Acually there are more than 4 statuses:

Adminstrator, Moderator, Elite Member, Member, Restricted Member, Muted Member, Banned Member XD

As for labels... meh... if there would be such a title for artistic members and so forth it'd all be (probably) based on stats more than anything else... so in a way it's kind of a dodgy indication whether or not this member is truly artistic or not. Unless they were carefully picked out. ;) It'd be quite fun to see whether or not these would be implemented.

As for why the site is called Minitokyo... it's a small Tokyo o_O I'm not really sure why it was called that, but to me, it sounds kinda hip and has a nice cosy community feel to it.

About ranks- I'm assuming it's a bit like AP ranked 1 and 2 and so forth eh? Well, this could kind of be equivalent to just adding your participation level and artistic level from your userpage and voila you have a level (the higher you are the more active you are).

The other point of getting rid of the level system in Mt2 was because there were some people who spammed to their high levels, submitted lots... friended lots... and just tried to get to level 50 to get the Shoutbox appear on the page... which really wasn't all that wonderful, because it's gone now anyway in Mt3. There were people being arrogant to others and treating newbies... as though they were... not as cool >_>

Why do we still have labels in Mt3? Well, you need a hierarchy. But you don't need levels. Levels are just an indicator of activity. Otherwise it's just a meaningless number- so the levels or rankings will not return ;)

As for the site name being Minitokyo, there used to be an explanation in support section's history page about it, but it's gone now. But blessed be the powers of Web Archive because it preserved that page:

Quote:
Minitokyo, developed under the name Tokyo3 (as in NGE), was founded as an anime art community and resource gathering website.

The name was changed to Minitokyo because it had 9 letters, and Kev, one of the original founders, felt it had better feng shui or karma or something.

You know as much i agree that the class did quite abit of problem in the old MT2 but from whay Celessa once told me about MT2 i had a feeling that the forums are not as active as it used to be ages ago.... i believe the removal of the it did a major impact to the members in MT more and more became inacitve.....

like what Kuro-chan said..

i think this is rather a great approach.. Why not moderators moniter member's activeness and artistic values and promote them to that of aritistic member or post fantic member as they deem fit.. by that way you dont need to have to worry people spamming or rippers... I guess you guys might notice the effect it does when you see a different colour person title like "moderator" do people just jump for joy or be scared when that person suddenly appear writing in your forums or guestbook... the moderators i am sure experience people saying... " i am so honoured you post in my forums" and so forth... whether we like it or not these different titles.. these titles help in giving due respect to the right people in MT...Hell believe our wonderful artist in MT dont get that much... Even if people starts doing over what happen in MT2.. with moderator controlling the promotion i doubt that would last long..

Of course it would mean more work for moderators but if it would make MT attractive and joyous, why not?

We don't do this because it's impossible not to mention far too time consuming. We are only human we can't monitor everything and everyone that comes here 24/7.

We don't promote people to those titles because they don't exist. The only classes we have are as follows:
Member
Restricted Member
Mute Member
Banned Member
Elite Member
Moderator
Super Moderator
Administrator

Not to mention I'm not even sure how the heck we'd track down people deserving titles like you mentioned. MT has over 350 thousand members. Trying to find members that post alot is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack the size of a desert.

All I'm going to comment about this is that the mods are cooking up a system sort of like classes. What it is you'll just have to wait and see. It's top secret :P

Nuriko used to be a super moderator back in MT2, but I have not seen one since. I think that title has been scrapped. Essentially, a super moderator would oversee everything, and I assume would assist with the actual upkeep of the site, in addition to moderation, instead of having one or two areas of expertise they more or less stick to.
