4 new Evangelion movies to be released

According to the October issue of Newtype (Japan) (On sale September 10), four new Evangelion movies are in the works. The four movies will include a prequel, a mid-series movie, a sequel and a "final" movie. The prequel movie is due out early summer 2007.

While the new story will be set during the same time frame as the original TV series, Newtype states that it will be an entirely new project, not be a remake or improvement of any sort. Newtype also mentions that viewers will not need to have already seen previous Evangelion material in order to understand and enjoy the new movies.

Hideaki Anno will write the scenario for the first movie and will be the general director and manager for the entire project. Kazuya Tsurumaki will direct the movies while Yoshiyuki Sadamoto will provide character designs and Ikuto Yamashita will provide mechanical designs. Shinji Higuchi will provide storyboards for the first movie.

Khara, a new studio that shares office space with Gainax, was recently set up and is seeking production staff to work on Anno's new project.

I never would have though they would still continue producing evangelion. I really looking forward to this. But if they decide to use new characters, thats just gonna be wierd. But still, finally, one of the greatest animes of all time is back in business!

I'm afraid they might F*ck up one of the best anime series there is. But, on the other hand, they are directed by Anno, and they might be valuable for understandig the dark spots left in Evangelion.

Or maybe it's crass commercialisation by flogging and beating and beating and flogging the same dead horse again, hoping to milk some more out of the fans.

Hm, I don;t know... on the one hand it'll be good to see new Evangelion material because it was damn good, but on the other hand... some things should just be left alone. Why try and fix what isn't broke, I guess. The series was so good and I'm a little scared that this will just put a black mark on it if it doesn't come out well.

well they just wanna milk out lots out of the fans with these, and i wont lie, i'm actully looking forward to this, it'll b good to see new evangelion, but then thers things that just shuldn't b touched, well im hoping it'll b worth seeing and hope to god they dont screw it up.

Hmm... Hideaki Anno is well-known for his amazing precise visual details as well as style. ^^ Ahh.. so the creater and founder is back with a vengenace! >=0000000~~~~~!

Well, i do agree with tobiast88-san they may spoil the Image of the best Mecha anime. Nevertheless, it also opens up a good opportunity to see what else is there that, Evangelion, is capable of! Since, the last 2 episodes of it were critised rather heavily... on its bad ending. >_< ( Well, for me, i don't though it felt it could have ended better than that ! Take heed, when i mean bad ending, i mean BNP or BNG... BNT for short : bad ending, normal ending, Perfect/Good/True Ending.) Well... in the end, the movie sort of statisfied the outcries. Lol. Me included. ;)

Hrmmm.. it's really a shocker. :o Gathering the entire...well, almost the entire Eva. Team all together on this huge and venturesome project. Hey hey, ain't Kazuya Tsurumaki the protege` of Hideaki Anno ? Hrmm.. this should prove real interesting. Hope it's worth every bit of it although there's a true darker meaning behind all this production. Lol. I agree that it is a bait to trap in new fans for the fanbase. Evangelion's grip on Mecha is already legendary. I still can't fanthom why they will revive it's legacy again. Still, working anime is better than having no anime at all. ;) I just know that, this will be a production with lots and lots of CG and special effects. ;) >.< Man,...hope they REally will not spoil the legacy.

Er.. one thing bugs me though.. Who's the music producer for it anyway on this production? ^_^'

I too, anticipate the new continuation of Eva. :)

For them to make a "new" Evangelion series they must be pretty confident that it would suceed or maybe they just want to milk the fans of their money/Evangelion merchandise sales are at an all time low. Well I have a good feeling about these movies since Hideaki Anno is actually working on it unless Hideaki Anno needs to be depressed to w/e for him to make an amazing series.

Also a bit off topic but Hideaki Anno should work on the Evangelion live-action ><.

Depressing ending? I didn't think the ending was very depressing. I thought it was analogous to a psychological breakthrough.

All in all. I much preferred the series ending to the movie (I suppose most people would disagree with me here), so I have my reservations that these movies would be any good...

Haha. I wonder how much worse evangelion can get. The two movies already made were bad enough as it was.

As far as I'm concerned past the first say 6 episodes the whole series went into drivel. Any thing extra they produce will most likely be just as bad or worse.

aye aye...what with the combust around here .... Lol. Actually , i had the same nudging notion too. It's far too early to jump striaght into conclusions just yet. Let's just wait and just see ya ? Nothing is perfect till it is already shown. Hrm.... though that lots and lots of CG got me work up lots. >_<

Will these movies have an unusually complicated ending as well? i mean i still read post from people that still don't the evangelion series ending. i hope they don't change any of the american voice actors ya know if this comes to the US. I hope so.

Yaaaaaay, so there's athread about this already...
MOVIES man MOVIES, which mean we'll get to see nicely animated (smooth motion, great artwork, great sounds), and since Anno's involed....expect great-complicated-intriguing-mind provoking-detailed-multi layered-psycho-ingenious strory, and that's an understatement.

AND I'LL GET TO SEE REI AND MISATO AGAIN! whooooohooooo......can't wait can't wait

Im all for a remake but I read this somewhere that thier making the remake easier to understand because as much as people love it im sure that their were alot of people put off by this show because it was too confusing for them

I'm looking forward to the new movies a lot. As long as they don't try to pull the same crap over again like other series do, it shoudl be great.
