It has been around five years since the terrorists changed the world. In five years, so much has changed, but instead of focusing on what has happened since 9/11, let's focus on what you were doing on that day. How did you feel when the terrorists flew those planes into the towers and the pentagon? How did you feel after the towers fell?

I remember I was in Cebu, Philippines going through another somber occsion. I was in a room in my relative's house, enjoying the few moments I had in the Philippines. Then, I received a call from my uncle in Los Angeles. He told me to watch CNN. I went down to see what was happening and I saw the towers burning. Soon after, I saw the second tower being hit. I was shocked and didn't know what to think. My sister was crying when she saw this scene. I ended up staying up at 3-4 in the morning. I couldn't sleep after that because I was so shocked. My flight going back to the US was cancelled and I ended up leaving three days after my original flight, hoping nothing would happen.

In the exact moment that it happened I was asleep. I didn't find out about it until I got to school when everybody was talking about it. Of course I had no idea what they were talking about so I just nodded. Then our teacher gave a little talk about it. It gave me a really weird feeling. I couldn't really grasp the concept that the buildings were there one minute and gone the next. I guess I was a bit young.

I was at home, behind my comp. Then a friend called me to say a plane crashed on the first tower. I turned my tv on and watched the infos until the end of the day.

At the exac moment it happened? I was in 6th grade taking ISTEP exams when the prinipacl came over the intercom and told us all the news. The rest of the school dayfelt very surreal, there was no teaching the rest of the day, everyone was watching the news and others where leaving school.

I was 19 and driving to college for my Anatomy & Physiology class when it was announced over the radio. I remember that when I got to my A&P class, the professor said that he wasn't even going to bother lecturing because he didn't think anyone would be able to concentrate. We turned on the news. A cell phone went off and one of the women walked out in the hall; she came back in going through hysterics. Not only did she have friends working in Twin Towers but she also had a favorite uncle working at the Pentagon..and the part of the building where he worked was the part that was hit. My professor canceled class, I went home and later dropped the class.
I remember thinking it was weird because my mother cried and so did one my "little sisters" but I couldn't. I wasn't in shock, I just couldn't cry. I was sorry for the families but I was also amazed at how easily the buildings had crumpled to the ground. I was concerned for a friend of mine that lived across from Central Park and for my best friend, who was going away to bootcamp for the Marine Corps in a couple of weeks.
More than anything, I remember when President Bush declared war on Iraq in March 2003. My best friend, whom I was now dating, was in Kuwait at the time. I bawled my eyes out and was almost to the point of hysterics. The two of us got married last Fall and he may be going back to Iraq for a 3rd time. I hope that it's easier than the last 2 times.

I was at work.

I was 16 and a junior in high school. I didn't know what was going on until my third period class. The teacher asked all of us if we wanted to go down to the library to watch the news. Apparently other kids had already heard about it. I didn't, so I was like "why? What's on the news?"

Everyone agreed to go down there. I asked again what was going on and someone told me someone hit one of the Twin Towers in New York with a plane. At first I thought it was maybe some guy in one of those little private planes flying too low over the city and accidentally clipped a corner of the building or something.

Boy was I wrong.

So we get to the library and the Tvs are all on CNN. They keep showing the footage of the plane hitting. By then I knew this was no accident. Someone deliberatly flew a plane into the building. And then they showed that someone had hit the Pentagon too.

At first I was very angry. I wanted to know who the jerks were who did this. I wanted them to come to justice. Then a few minutes later the second plane hit the other tower. And a little while after that, Tower One collapsed. Then Tower Two. By then I was feeling a little bit of everything. I was angry. I was sad. I was scared. My country was under attack. :(

Hardly anyone got any work done that day. Few teachers actually held class. No one did any homework that night. And to top it all off...it was my grandfather's birthday.

I was just very grateful that no one I knew had gotten hurt or killed. And I was sad and I prayed for all those who did.

I know I will never forget what happened that day, nor will I forget where I was. It will always be one of the darkest days of Amercian history. God bless those who passed, and God bless my country.

i was in school and after we heard the news we turned on the tv and just watched what happened all day long

I was in highschool (Toronto) and we heard from the PA system of the event. It was around the last period then. Since it was our neighbor country, I didn't think much of it because I didn't know it was that big of a deal, then i went home and turned on the TV, OMG!

well... letsee... i live in new york ... soo on that day, i was sitting in calss... i was in the 3rd grade. My school is in jackson heights, so it's not too far from manhattan. I remember hearing the fourth grade teacher talk about something and to look outside the window. I saw lots of black smoke, wondering if it was a fire or something. Then my teacher turned on her portable radio and we heard what had happened.

we were all shocked, but since i was kinda a little kid at the time, i didn't really understand what was going on. I remember as i was walking home, [yes, walking] i looked up and saw still lots of black smoke, and a kind of wierd scent.

i'm in eighth grade now, but i can still remember that day very clearly.

I was at work when I heard about the first plane. When the second plane went in we knew something was very wrong and our security came over the intercom and told us that the military base near us had just changed its Force Protection status to Delta (basically a full wartime footing meaning that fully armed and primed personnel and vehicles were now guarding all gates and they were evacuating all non-essential personnel from the base). It was kinda a tense day.

Do not interfere in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

I was laying in bed before I was going to work at 1:00 p.m.. My mother came in and told a plane hit the twin towers. I did not think any thing of it though. I got up an hour later. And was shocked. When i went to work that was all we talked about. The customers included. We all knew we were going to war with who ever did it though.

It was during my Science class it was my first period. We were just sitting in class taking notes. Until one of the hall monitor came in and ask if he could speak to our teacher. When they left to the hall way. One of my classmate were talking about some kind building was hit. I have no clue. I ask them what they were talking about. He unplugs one of his headphones. It seem while the teacher was lectures us. He wasn't playing attention instant he was listening to the radio. He took deep breath and announces what he hears. The whole class was silence. Then the teacher and the hall monitor came in with a TV.

As we watch the video on cnn the whole class was shock and scary at the same time. 5 minute later the principle made announcement about the twin tower. When I went to my 2 period. I notice my English's teacher face was full of tear. We end up having one of the hall monitor take over the class. Which we learn later om, one of her friend was among those that have pass way.

hahaha I didn't even expect to write this much.

I was at work when 9/11/2001 took place. I was watching television seeing the two planes hitting the twin towers (World Trade Center). When the first 757 jetliner hit the North tower, I thought it was a nightmare. When the second jetliner (757 ?) hit the South tower, I knew it was not a nightmare, but an act of terrorism with horrific efficiency ! I was sadden for the rest of the work day and at home. That's when the nifgtmare had begun for the USA.

I was at my house getting ready for school when I first found out. I turned on the TV and saw the first tower burning, and I thought it was just a small fire or something, but then I realized after turning to CNN what had happened. I was already at school by the time the second plane hit, and at that point school was cancelled and I went home. I watched the news some more and I watched the two towers collapse. Then I turned on my N64 and played Perfect Dark.

it was a school day for me. our family tv is usually on during breakfast. but for some odd reason, it wasn't. so we were all clueless about the event until i got to school. that was when other students were talking about it. later, one of the teachers on our floor rolled in a tv and the majority of us tuned in to watch the national news. it was practically like a day off. we didn't learn anything, and some students hanged out, instead of watching the tv. so yeah, our teacher had a friend working in New York, so he was trying to contact that person. and that was pretty much it.

I was in 8th grade at that time getting ready for school. I saw it on tv and again when I reached school. 10 years prior to that, the Philippine gov warned US something big is gonna hit the US, but got ignored or didnt take it seriously cuz it was "inconceivable".

I was in school with my jet-expert friend just talking about "PLANES".
I almost shocked when I learned that the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were just attacked at tha moment. I remember I was on a little bit illegal break time talking about planes and joking, it was a bit too early beacuse I have a two hours difference between my city and New York, when suddenly my history and biologicals teachers runs towards us and our classmates just to tell us that something horrible had happened.

Call me a freak maniac for New York, but I left school right away and started recording the news on my old VHS recorder. I depleted a full EP 8 Hrs. tape cartdridge by recording news on CNN. But sadly I had to accomplish my social service by the afternoon. So during my walk in the downtown, I constantly stopped at any electronics store just to stare at the TV screens and watch the NEW on almost every channel.

I can't remember to feel a lot more consternated besides that day.

I also ran into a catholic church to pray for those who died in this terrorist attack.

I really felt that because I was eager to climb up the twin towers and watch the world from it's very rooftop.

The rumors about this prmeditated crime to be known by the american intelligence spread as fire, but none could think rationally knowing that this freakshow had trembled in the world and changed the world's view.

Now, even if the americans were the actual cause for the WTC to dissappear, I still pray for those poor victims.

I was in 7th grade at that time getting ready for school. I didn't really know about the crash until i got to school because i usually sleep in bus and almost everywhere. My homeroom teacher talked about for entire school time.

Don't you think it's a bit shady to have been talking about planes with my friend before this happened?
