One is a great director who alcohol made him to do not know what was he talking about... but he's now doing merits and apologies for more than a month. The other is a respected authority of a 2,000 year institucion, and also he did'nt know that a medieval line taken out of context would carry him so much trouble... And is also apologyzing. Who did it the worst? You decide!

Mel Gibson of course... drinking and being an idiot is one thing, but having a quote you said taken a quote out of context and then apologizing for doing nothing wrong is another (although the current Pope isn't what you'd call the smartest person out there, he's not stupid enough to insult Islam on purpose given he's position in the Catholic Church).

I gotta agree with alexjohnc3 on this one. Gibson made a fool of himself whereas the Pope did nothing but quote an old text during his speech which the press then blew way the H$%^ out of proportion.

Gibson. Some of the people who employ him are Jewish. But the pope also said something that wasn't exactly intelligent.

In term of how much impact I would say it would be Pope. Mel would suffer only embarrassment to himself and possibly his career, but what Pope did....even though it was taken out of context and totally unintentional will impact directly and indirectly many, many, people around this world.
