have anyone ever wondered why ai normally wear a school uniform thoough she never goes to one? why a uniform i mean, dun you think it's a little odd, you can always wear you normal clothes right?

Ahh! One of my favorite Anime! If Enma Ai wears a seifuku, it is evident there is no reason. I mean she pertains to a period where seifuku didn't really exist(at least, in this fashion) and it somewhat prooves that an anachronology sneaks into this serie(even though Enmai is temporally situated in modern time). That's probable she "fell in love" for this uniform, but this is very ODD. Frankly, although it may be rude of me, it seems to be again a trick of creators. In many many Anime, Girls are always dressed in Seifuku. So, it's a sort of fanservice (as always).

it's tempting me to ask the artist or studio deen.....she comes from the ancient japan, yet modernizes herself with modern fashion. even her assistants followed suit too! however, i guess it's probably to fit her client's world.
but have you noticed her uniform is the autumn type? (there're 2 types: summer and autumn)

hmm...maybe she hopes she can be a little free girl who would be normal like any other girl then she would go to school and wear a uniform...
just a thought since it always seemed to me she wanted to be free...(poor girl,childhood was stolen from her...)

maybe she considers her job a burden ...i mean how many of us like going to school? but something in common is we have to do it..(not me for some reason i love school but talking about majority i know) and again i think Enma Ai was not so enthusiastic about taking people to hell... i donno...

most probably, because she really hopes she can lived as normal as others. but unfortunately she was chosen to be sacrificed to mountain god T_T . even hajime shibata was unable to save her as a result of villagers' pressure that 'she must be sacrificed for that sake of village's peace'i guess you got the right point, sara. info from wikipedia states:

Enma Ai's seifuku is a mimic. to go unnoticed in the crowd. She spies on the target in the time from the request to the confirmation.
