Are there any Wiccans on here? What do you think of Wicca?

I am Wiccan and fairly new to it, I am studying the Wiccan Rede and listing what I'll need to make an Alter for my spells. I am truly fascinated by Wicca and I am delighted I have found something to call myself instead of being an "Other". I am looking to meet other Wiccans. For those of you who don't know what Wicca is, here's some info I found..

What is Wicca anyway?

Greetings,

In truth I am not actually a Wiccan, but I am something close: a Neo-Pagan. I was a Wiccan for a little while before my views changed, so I still know a little and can relate. The religion continues to fascinate me, however, and many of the ideals and practices still hold true for me. I just do not believe I could still call myself a full-fledged Wiccan, since many things are different.

As for the things that you have listed, I still practice divination (tarot, mainly), meditation (some heavy forms, actually), aura-viewing (which also ties into the chakras), and chi manipulation (although I don't believe you listed this, for it is not entirely an area the Wicca practices). If you have any questions at all, I'll do my best! ^^

It /is/ good to find another who is interested in this genre, for many find it heathenistic due to the condemnation many of us have gone through. It's difficult to talk about it openly for the fear that you will be shunned, but it's always good to learn more and share what you know.

Good luck and blessed be,
~KK~

Wiccans celebrate the 8 Sabbats - We don't necessarily worship the Earth, but we do hold it sacred, and celebrate the cycles and the seasons, as well as the traditional harvest days.
Wicca is polytheistic - Not all Wiccans follow precisely the same path when it comes to Deity, but typically we believe in multiple Gods and Goddesses often taken from different cultures and time periods. Many Wiccans will work with 1 or 2 Deities, rather than worshipping the entire gamut.
Wiccans do practice magick - Magick and spells are part of our religion. This sometimes seems far-fetched to those who don't understand. Forget every magick spell you've ever seen on TV or in the movies. Magick is nothing more than utilizing the energy that exists around us in nature. It's a delicate art that takes time, study and practice to master. We don't spend our days casting spells willy-nilly.
Wiccans do gather in covens - The media has made this sound more sinister than it really is. A coven can be any number of people (not just 13), and involves a group of Wiccans who gather regularly for ritual, magick, study and celebration. It's not that mysterious at all. Many Wiccans are not part of any coven, and folks who work alone are called 'solitaries'.

That is what a wicca is ok ^_^

I am Catholic, but I live in Mexico, where ancient religions got mixed with Christianism. It's called sincretism.

I also have espontaneously seen (never conjured, it's against my religion) spirits (not human) and ghosts. And also felt their touch. Which is not strange in my land. My city, Merida, was built over ancient ruins of another. Wars happened here, in the low jungle.

My advice is to be very careful to what you may conjure. If it's a force of nature, ok, but if it has a name, never mention it. Nor conjure it. Don't play with these things.

No, it's not a joke. And it's nothing against your beliefs. Just that many of you are very young, and have to be cautious. As an advice. And here's another: don't fall into satanism. It has happened around here and it's not nice.

I'm not a Wiccan and, to be honest, my knowlege about it it's quite limited. But the few words I heard about it really sounded interesting. I just think, as mireya2 said, people must be carefull about the forces they are conjuring. This is not a play. Don't try expericences with thoses things. You don't know what may appear. I'm not a religious person, but I know that, with some forces, we cannot mess around. Be carefull.

I'm guess I'm still relatively new to the Pagan scene, having really discovered Paganism in early 2004. Prior to that I was an Anglican Christian - my Dad is the Minister of a church at home. Though I wouldn't necessarily call myself Wiccan, I'm currently working both individually and as part of a group using ideals based on traditional Gardnarian-style Wicca.
