for me.... most of my friends watched it, so don't have any choice.....
and i found out that anime is cool.
the storyline and grafics are much better than cartoons.

I actually watched Sei Jyuushi Bismarck, Queen Millenia, and Kimba the White Lion on TV. I think my very first was Lensman, though, that I specifically knew was Japanese. (This was in the early 90s.) It wasn't until the mid-90s that I got internet access and could really look into it more.
What really got me into it, though? Complexity. Shows aimed at younger kids in western culture are very simplistic in most cases, very formulaic. Anime -- even shows aimed at a younger audience, or more adult shows toned down for American broadcast -- still had that engaging complexity. You didn't always know how things would end. The conflict wasn't always completely clear. In other words, there was a real story there, not just the same thing you saw last week with different colors and flavors.

I've had always had a thing for 'pretty kids' series'. I didn't know at the time that I've watched anime series.

I've seen anime before this, but i never really knew what it was. Trigun on Adultswim really clenched it. From there i experimented with different kinds and such.

well when i was little i liked to watch all the american movies like batman and ninja turtles ^_^
but like one day i saw a few animes don't remember ^^

I saw an amv (anime music video) to Evangelion using Engel by Rammstein (it's very famous), anyway, it looked awesome so I decided to have a look at the series and I've been hooked ever since.

what really hooked me was the art.. gundam wing and escaflowne were the 2 real big ones that caught my attention and started my road down anime obsession ^^ j/k.. but yeah.. the plot line in anime was a lot different from the majority of shows on tv at times.. (though I know not all anime shows have a plot ^^)

deff has to be Gundam Wing ^_^everything anime wise came after i tottaly fell in love with it, pity toonami dont show any animes as good as that anymore ~_~ (toonami in england anyway)
