Have you ever had any teachers talking about their own life? You know, the class starts and when everybody are seated the teacher starts to talk about his/her own life after some time, instead of starting everything. And if you have, do you think its good/bad and amusing/boring?

I have a teacher (doesnt come too often, luckily) who always talk about her own life, every goddamn lesson we got with her. It happens so often I always sit there at the lesson and laugh my ass off (I dont show it, just a little :P). On our chemistry class she started to talk about how much better our school is compared to others, and that her house is under construction so she couldnt go to the WC properly. Instead she had to use a... *dont wanna tell, its just too disgusting <_<. I could puke >_<*. And the only thing she was supposed to do at the class was to start a movie! And instead, she talks about her own life for like 10 minutes! Man, I even made a bet with my friend if she was going to talk or not about her life.

Sooo... have you ever had these kind of teachers? :P

Hell yeah. I mean they never stop talking. I just get in class and back from spring break so they talk a lot since we havn't talked in like......a week. It sucks.

Yeah, a couple of my teachers tend to do that, mostly the history/government/economics teachers. They tend to talk about themselves a lot but they still manage to get a lesson done though so it's all good. Their life stories aren't bad either so I enjoy listening to them. XD

yup, sometimes it's real fun, but sometime it gets irritating , during my 11th grade, i used to go for coaching classes 4 my entrances, and our chemistry teacher used to just talk about how many medals and scholarships he used to get, it's fun to listen the first time, but when you have to hear the same thing about a hundred times, you feel like killing that person. T_T

I had my revenge once, actually. Me and my friends were at a LAN, and when it was past midnight we went to her house and threw snowballs on the windows XD. She didnt notice though, luckily <_<. She was sleeping. Or else we would be busted XD

nope never had a teacher like that lol, but i've had substitues like that, but their really weird like, this guy looks like beetoven(sp?) and he started talking about how we as the students should survive school and no have aids.

some of my teachers like to tell their own life in class. to their explanation, it's a way to decrease stress for students. sometimes it was fun. but sometimes it was boring. it was just a waste of time

Too much of a thing is bad but a little is fine. If the teacher doesn't spends half of the time talking about own experiences, the short breaks that makes the lecture less boring may be good.

Ye, they often talk about their own experience. And that must be the boring part... actually :\
Luckily, we dont got that teacher anymore (hopefully...). She is working at another school :D. Oh the lovely joy ^^. But it was still fun hearing her sick stories and laugh at them.

sometimes when they share personal info is because they want to have a connection with the students, but if they do it all the time, than maybe they just need someone to talk to?

yep! i have! sometimes it's fun to listening to them cuz' you can do whatever you want during she/he is talking. but otherwise it's not sooo fun..^^

Yeah it could be quite amusing, my teachers talk about their lives in every single little topic. Once you mention anything, and I mean anything, they'll start telling a story about anything in their lives related to the topic.

God, I wouldn't stand that <_<
But as long as I can draw I would be happy. The problem is that I don't always bring my stuff with me so I can draw! That isn't a problem anymore, cause as I said, we don't got that teacher taking care of us.
Btw, she once talked about the time when she first got *cough* laid *cough*. And THAT'S not even needed, even if you talk about something related to that.

i have teachers who talk about their own life..... sometimes it's as boring as hell, sometimes it's amusing, depending what they talk about. i've heard a wide range of stuff: them being kids, the fact that their roof is leaking, stuff about their kids, dog, etc.... one of the teachers even told us how she broke her arm as a child and another about the hard times a teacher gave them...
sumtimes it's to bond with the students, sumtimes cuz they can't get their mind off their problems, sumtimes to brag about sumthing and sumtimes just giving themselves as examples.
no matter the reason, it shows one thing: they're human, have their own problems and we dun have why to look at them as if they're robots with no life, problems or feelings and with an angel's patience to let all our lil "escapades" and mistakes go unnoticed....

Oh, my Health teacher, she's quite old already so...
She starts to talk about, well you know basic stuff of Health, and she would suddenly start talking about how when she was back at her University.... And one time her son did... And then when she was pregnant...

T_T that's her class, everyday *lol*

I usually busy myself with something descent and less offensive while they're talking. It can be good sometimes though, specially when you have quizzes and exams. Some of them really forget about it and some talk long enough that it's almost past hour! Lols* But there are some who are really funny and some that you raelly can learn something form. I usually enjoy that kind of professors and teachers.

Man, I wish I had teachers talking about something funny. Not about their recent problems at home and so on. And they also need to be interesting so you can bear with their talking.

Sometimes it can be good listening to them, but most of the time its not if you got my teacher <_<.

LoL, most of my teachers talk about themselves, i don't have a problem with it since it's always something stupid and funny. They usually tell us about the weird things they use to do. Mostly everyone in my classes just laugh about it and we all just end up not doing our work, not that i have a problem about that >_< LoL

I never really like teachers talking about their past, cause it's like decades ago... Unless they are talking their War experience.. how they kill a soldier.. Now that would be cool..

I had a teacher who doesn't talk about his life, but he has a lot of stories about something that happened to his friends. He would be telling one of his stories like almost every class period. But those were interesting stories so it was alright. He still manage to work us to death despite the stories.
