I prefer Kanon over Air. Kanon storyline is more coherent and complete as a whole. One do not need prior knowledge to understand what's being said. The story unfold its mysteries by the end and almost all characters were explored with some depth. Air of course also explored characters' inner feelings but I lost the plot after the main guy turned into a bird. I was confused and dumb-founded afterwards. The ending bit of Air deserves a well done however - things were implied rather than stated clearly - leaving audiences to decide what the real end is.
