The first manga that was not a scanlation was Samurai Girl: Real Bout High School. I just love the idea of fighting in schools, well atleast with some honor involved and not petty gang violence.

Battle Angel Alita, about eight years ago. Still my favorite. Fantastic story and excellent artwork from Yukito Kishiro. Thank God for the new sequel, "Last Order," which reminded me how much I loved the series.

Heyy! My first manga was Love Hina too! Wahh, I loved it so much! ...and then I found so many others! If I may plug in some of my other favorite manga (albeit short), I think everyone should read Snow in the Dark and Kimi Shika. =P Wah, can I plug in another? Yakitate Japan! Everyone! unfortunately...it was dbz...i wish the...wait a sec..hm...maybe it was sailor moon...yes the first manga was sailor moon...but it came as magazines once a..week and in swedish..when i were...7 years old..
