I don't read magazines...dunno why. Not quite my idea of proper literature.

Prefer to read faction - fiction and fact in a historical setting. Favorite authors include Steven Pressfield (Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic Greece), Valerio Massimo Manfredi (Greek and Roman), Simon Scarrow (Roman legions), Bernard Cromwell (Warlord and Alfred trilogies) and Lindsy Davis (Roman whodunnits). I'm not that big a fan of Science Fiction. A good Fantasy is nice, but I haven't found that many authers yet. Can only recommend Terry Pratchett (best known for the Discworld).

Will read manga when I have it. Akira, Appleseed, Basilisk, Berserk, Hellsing, Gunm (Battle Angel Alita) and Ghost in the Shell is quite recommendable.

Then of course my work dictates that I read historiographers, my fav of which are Herodotus, Thucydides, Polybius and Livius. Give 'em a try.

Newtype is really good.. they actually make english copies so you'll understand. Just like any other anime mag, it has the latest news, reviews, tech stuff, merchandises and etc.

There are other anime magazines.. so far they're only in Japanese. You can find them at your local Kinokuniya. (Going there this weekend to stock up!)

Wow! To have read the encyclopedia... that's much more than I can say - I only paged through the articles looking at the pictures. It was in early high school when I actually started to read novels, so I got a bit of a late start. When I discovered an author I latched on to him or her and polished of all their works. Hence I'm a bit conservative in my taste. I should probably broaden out..... :nerd: XD

But you should never feel self-conscious about what you read - even if people tease you about it. Is it wrong to have a broader general knowledge than others? To be more literate. You don't have to be a bookworm, but even then it will do you more good than bad. Rather an hour of reading than 4 hours of television... o_0 ;)

Stand Alone Complex

I like an assortment of reading materials. Horror novels, mangas, comic books, poetry, some magazines(usually anime related).

My favorite novels are the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley. There's 13 books all together, full novels, not pictures to look at. But well worth the time to read.

I like to disturb the harmony of the pond by throwing a handful of pebbles in all at once. ~ Me

Just recently, I rediscovered Sci-Fi novels. For those of you have an interest in Sci-fi, I highly recomend the Faded Sun trilogy. I read it through in a matter of days it was so good. Quite some time ago I was in to D&D fiction, like Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms, and before that (think pre-teen) it was the Redwall books and The Dark Is Rising. Oh, and who can forget The Wheel of Time! Still working on Crossroads of Twilight...

I don't like reading newspapers! :D

I reat a bit of everything. I'm not very keen on this new trend of historic novel, following the fame of The Davinci Code; and I don't like poetry either.

Right now I'm reading Genji Monogatari.

You can never be too proud of too much knowledge - people tend to become intimidated if you know than they do. But that's no reason to stop gathering info. Because with all honesty, knowledge does equal, power - You''l be amazed at the amount of respect you'll get - ever thought you'll be able to intimidate university professors? I have - quite by accident, but while they specialised in their own fields, I could bombard them ith other types of info - was quite fun :)
