Is there any point?

page 1 of 2 1 2 Next » 26 total items

IS there really any point in this pathetic existence that is we human beings? Viral parasites on the face of the planet (just ask Agent Smith, he got it dead on)

A human life is irrelevant...does anyone agree with this?
Do they disagree?
If there any point to continuing a mediocre life filled with marginal successes? I fail at an obvious trick on a game, a puzzle and I'm second rate at all things important that I may pursue, hence I keep to the shadows of life rather than the spotlight (or any ligt at all, if I can help it) Success is the only thing that matters to me...personal hapiness isn't even on my personal radar of priorities, yet I can't even survive my one goal to be successful in what I do.
Let me hear your take on this.

If one finds himself in an irrelevant life, should he endure the life of mediocrity?
One has to wonder, do they not?

The funny thing about life is that you can change the things you don't like. Even if it means losing apart of yourself. It's up to you to figure out what you want to change and what you can afford to lose... or what you are willing to lose. I much prefer to work in the shadows anyway, it's much easier to shoot someone out of the spotlight than it is to shoot them out of the shadows. Some food for thought. :)

Doesn't "success" fall under "personal happiness" in that you find pleasure in your endeavours? But you don't want just "success" from the look of things. You want to be best at everything, and if everything doesn't revolve around you, you consider yourself a failure. Now there's a philantropic view if I ever saw one. I'd tell you to build a brigde so that you can get over yourself, but the philosophical aspect of your potential failure in that would probably keep me up for nights.

The only point to human life is the point that we, ourselves make. There is no one person or entity that decides what our purpose is in this life. When we are all old enough to understand life and death, we then decide if our life is worth living.
As for success, we can go as far as we want. There is no limit to the success a person can acheive but the person has to be willing to work hard for what they want.
But if a person believes that their life is irrelivant, and I know it sounds selfish of both myself and the person, but they should kill themselves and be done with the life that they beleive is not important.

I have to agree with Northy! Basically you seem unsatisfied with yourself. Actually, the only purpose is one's life is personal happiness no matter what kind of life a person leads. We are satisfied with ourselves when we are successful and self satisfaction is personal happiness!
We are allowed to make choices in life and hence, we are the ones responsible for the way our life turns out to be.. So if one isn't happy with his/her life then he/she should find ways to change it.. Most have pointed the same thing out!
Our life is more like clay, we can mold it the way we please as long as it is wet.. In our case as long as we have the will/ enthusiasm/ yearning..

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!

it is just weird, human have the will to survive. fight so hard to survial, yet in the end they die. why do we want to survive and try so hard to gain happiness when we know we are all going to die one day^^? i guess someone put the feelings, the desire to yearn for happiness in us when we are born. hehe

Well... if you're going to die one day... preoccupy yourself with things to keep yourself busy along the way so it's not boring. There's bound to be something you want to see/try! Don''t be discouraged at things you don't succeed on... there's lots of other things to do =)

I, for one, do not think of myself as a viral parasite. I... am a Samu... far worse than any parasite or virus, in point of opinion...

Well, if you want the things you haven't been getting, do the things that you haven't been doing...

You might want to change your outlook on life, don. Attitude is a definite key to success, and might I point out, you do not have, as of yet, the proper attitude to get you success... Keep looking, I'm sure that someday you'll find that far eluding success your looking, savvy.

Actually, if we think in an incredibly broad sense, there is undoubtedly a destiny that which we are bound to. However this does not limit our capabilities and will not bind us to what we already are.

There is no such thing as an irrelevant life form. Nor is there a pointless existence. All things small and great have meaning and purpose and so they strive to exist. Though failure may deal great damage to one's morale, it is not wise to dwell in one's failures and mistakes. However, one should also avoid to marvel at their own success as though it may be a source of personal joy, enjoying a meager success for a long time will hinder you from acieving greater and more.

As for one's purpose, no one can tell what yours is, but it is all for you to find out. I too suffered like many, who thought their life was meaningless and "irrelevant", but soon, I understood why. As long as you are alive, you have a purpose and therefore an important part of the community. Do not take yourself for granted for you are yet to meet your destiny.

life is wat u make of it no one can tell u how to live it so people should just make the most of it and follow there dreams T_T

Aren't you calling yourself pethetic. If you think that human existantce is pointless then go stay in closet for the rest of your life. I don't know about you I rather be in the spotlight then stay in the shadows and maybe thats why you've made this topic I've used to be in the shadow the I found the guitar. All I can say is make life what you can. I don't even understand what I just said.

yes at times i agree that all we people are is a bunch of maggots that are rotting the earth which is nothing compared with the rest of the universe, but in the end i just realize who cares? its like so what if humanity accepts it, its not like we'll all give up on living bc there's no real meaning to it IN THE BIG PICTURE... so i guess all we can do is not care about the big picture and also realize that we have our little insignificant lives to live out bc even though we arent worth a thing when thinking universe-wise, we do contribute and effect the rest of the earth which is all we can really have to do with...
so i guess thats my opinion on this^^
o and also "Success is the only thing that matters to me...personal hapiness isn't even on my personal radar of priorities, yet I can't even survive my one goal to be successful in what I do."... i think success could b considered personal happiness bc that's wat makes u feel satisfied although u may b setting your standards a bit 2 high for yourself at this point in time, so im sure that if you set goals that are more in your range of abilites you can go from there ^^

I think... there are many points. It's up to you to decide which point you want. Or none at all. But no, there's no specific point to reach for.

No point in life? That is the thing that doesn't make sense to me. Of course there's a point on living, otherwise we wouldn't be here. The thing is, we need to build that point, as we build our way. There's the point, making a point and live for it.

in my view, the point of life is to have fun... Everybody wants to just hang out with their friends..or get to know new people to have fun with...thats why we buy houses..so we can treat our friends and family to a good time..thats why we have relatinoships..to love, care, and share everything that we enjoy with eachother...i could go on for hours about this kinda thing..but ill just leave it simple for now, take care

ultimately, it is for the self to decide the meaning behind the point of it all, good or bad.

From the situation given, the true victor is one who never gives up the fight in the face of overwhelming adversity. Give up, and then yes your life will not be a success. Do not let your own bias discourage others from being more successful.

Also, keep in mind that life is fickle. Just because success doesn't come today doesn't mean that it isn't waiting in the horizon.
