RECENTLY IN MINITOKYO...
How did the MTM come about? An interview tells all!
fireflywishes here! Our first issue of the
Maigetsu... I'm so excited! In celebration of this historic event, I'm here to bring you a deep, thought- provoking
interview with the person who started it all-- Our very own MT Moderator, kuroimisa! *applause*
---------------
fireflywishes (F): So I suppose the first question to ask you would be, where did
you get the idea for the Maigetsu?
kuroimisa (K): Well, I guess it was thinking through what a lot of other sites had, that Minitokyo didn't. Usually it gets chaotic when members keep asking questions about updates, and there's nowhere really to read them- or at least it's hard to find them. So put in a little fun and members, we can get a monthly newsletter. It's just that something extra to look forward to and read- another reason to log into Minitokyo. ;)
F: With the first issue of the Maigetsu coming out, what are you most excited
about?
K: I'm most excited about the reaction from the members! Nobody knows what to
expect, and I'm hoping that some members will be really pleased with the newsletter- especially upon reading some
features and stuff ^.^ <3
F: What do you hope to accomplish through the Maigetsu?
K: Lots of activity: be it through reading, commenting or PM-ing requests. I also
hope that all members, new and old will be able to learn something- even if it's just revising the policy over again!
lol
F: Time for the random rapidfire questions! XD
F:Top 5 songs on your music player right now:
K: lol i don't have it on D:
F: well, your current favorite 5 then. ;)
K: lol okay let's see~ Luvotomy/ m-flo loves Namie Amuro, Fill this night/
Clazziquai Project, I love you/ Ozaki Yutaka, My Love/ Justin Timberlake (>__<), Forever Mind/ Se7en
F: Ooo, good choice on that last one... Se7en! <3
F: Anime you can't stop talking about:
K: lololol
K: Kyou kara ore wa! (possibly the most underrated anime ever produced), Shojo
Kakumei Utena (?_?- who what who?), Rurouni Kenshin, DNA^2
F: Right handed or left:
K: right :3
F: Dark chocolate or Milk:
K: oooh... both <3 <3 <3 maybe dark is a tad better ^.~
F: Favorite piece of clothing you own:
K: A jacket I got overseas. It has the funkiest zipper (at a slant) and you can
fiddle around the collar from "business suit"-like to something really casual. The cool thing about it is that
it's glittery, too
F: sounds like a "for any occassion" type of jacket
K: haha that's right, though it's a little more formal at times >D
F: Well, I think that's all of the questions I have for now. Any parting
words?
K: Hi *waves* hope you enjoy the newsletter- we need your support, so keep the
PMs coming! >D *cookies*
DID YOU KNOW?
To start our series of "DID YOU KNOW?", we have a month by month/ chapter by
chapter account of what NOT to do in Minitokyo. This is exceptionally helpful for new and old readers- a must
read!
Part I: Registration and Credit Woes
One day, while surfing the Internet, you come across a site called Minitokyo. Upon seeing many pretty pictures from your favourite animes, you get curious and start exploring. You see a picture of Sasuke, your favourite bishounen. Excited, you decide to click on the thumbnail and wait impatiently for the page to load.
Wait, what's this? "Access Denied"?! You feel bitter disappointment seeping in, but just as you're about to give up, you notice a link that says "register". Feeling brave - and that you really want to download those pictures - you decide to click on the link.
You're whisked to a page that has a box that says "Scope of the Policy". Blah blah blah. It looks really long, and you don't have the patience to read all that! Besides, it's not like anyone ever reads these things anyway. But it doesn't say that you have to pay for an account or anything, so you click on the check-box at the bottom and click the Continue button, feeling a step closer to owning those pictures on your hard-drive.
Time to choose your username and information. Hmm, should you use? You could choose something that announces your undying love for Sasuke, like "OMGIluvSasuke111", or maybe something cute, like "kawaii-chan196". But upon further thought, you decide that you something more: you want popularity; you want people that you've never met and will never meet to worship the very cybernetic ground you walk on. Feeling creative, you decide to call yourself "popular", and use sticky caps to make it extra special, like POpUlaR. But wait, what's this? It's already taken by some girl from Thailand?! Shoot. Thinking hard, you suddenly got a brilliant idea. Yatta! the name's still available!
Welcome to Minitokyo POpUlaR-cHaN!
Without further delay, you log into your new account. The first thing you do is to download that Sasuke picture, and maybe that hot yaoi scan that you spotted while browsing around earlier. Wow, these pictures are so big and clear, much better than the ones you found on Google Images. And cool, there are many free anime wallpapers too! You feel heavenly bliss as you go on a downloading spree. But on your 12th picture, it stopped working for some reason. Oh no! It says that you don't have enough credits to download. What does that mean? What the heck are credits?! Is this a bug or something?
Looking at the left menu under your name, you see something called "Free download quota" with a big fat 0 underneath, then "Credits", and 0.23 underneath. You start to have a slight suspicion that this might have something to do with not being able to download, since the error message did mention something about credits.
Feeling indignant, and a bit curious, you decide to ask around. You spot a "Bug Reports" section in the forums and, without further ado, create a thread asking why you can't download, and asking as an aside what the heck those mysterious credits were.
Since you can't download anything, and nobody has replied to your thread yet, you decide to get yourself an identity. You flip through your files, and find a great avatar of Sasuke with a heart on it that you found on LiveJournal some time ago. For your signature, you decide to use a signature you found on a forum somewhere, and tack on a profound quote at the bottom. There.
Oh look, you've got some Notifications. They're replies to the forum thread you just made. One from a moderator said that it wasn't a bug, it's because your Free Download Quota and Credits are all gone, and he gave you a link to Common Problems in MT and How to Fix Them , which you should've read in the first place instead of creating a bug thread. And to explain the credits, he directed you to Userguide to Minitoyko 3: credits, browsing, groups and more , which you also should've read after registering. Lastly, he explained that the Free Downloading Quota is basically the number of downloads you can have without having to use credits; you can get a maximum of 5, and it will replenish in 24 hours.
You glance at those threads, but they all look so long and boring, and you don't really want to read it. So you reply to your own thread, asking how to gain credits, even though it was already covered in that thread you were too lazy to read.
It's getting late, and your mom is yelling at you to go to bed. But you decide that tomorrow, you will start putting some of your favourite pictures, quizzes, and Youtube videos on your userpage, and start on the road to popularity.

This Month: A Modern Cult Feature
Murderous Obsession // Le Chevalier D'Eon
'Paris, 1742. A coffin floats in the shimmering river Seine. On the lid, a word written
in blood: Psalms. Inside, the body of a beautiful woman: Lia de Beaumont. Now her brother, D'Eon, seeks the reason for
her mysterious murder, and uncovers an evil that shadows both the palaces of kings and the dark alleys of Europe.
A power wielded by spell-casting poets, and manipulated by royalty. A force so powerful it brings Lia's soul back from
beyond to seize the only weapon she can possess to avenge her death: her own brother.'
A historic beginning needs a historic piece and ladies and gentlemen, Le Chevalier D'Eon is the anime title that will rock you!
A historic period/action production from the highly acclaimed makers of Ghost In The Shell and written by Yasuyuki Muto. Production I.G. Studios and
ADV Films have merged together to bring the world one of the most highly anticipated anime series of 2007! Released in
Japan on August 19th 2006, this 24 episode epic pays homage to Japan's fervent adoration of European period history in
this heart pounding, edge of your seat series. Translated from French, 'Le Chevalier D'Eon' reads 'The Knight of Eon' in English. Positively alive with stunningly sequenced
swashbuckling and backed with a musical score feverish and passionate to the story's binding dark tale of murder,
mystery and obsession.
Anime Planet and Anime On DVD have raved that Project Chevalier will hands down take the title of best anime series of 2007, and with the crew from ADV Films in the English production helm, they most likely aren't wrong! ADV Studios have had a long-standing line of excellence when it comes to gathering vocal casts and they haven't let us down this time either. The intensely commanding David Matranga (Famed For: Elfin Lied, Gilgamesh, Saiyuki & Saiyuki Requiem The Movie to name just a few) takes the shining lead role as the English voice actor for our hero d'Eon de Beaumont. Matranga's powerful vocal talents are supported by Jay Hickman (Elfin Lied, Gantz, Saiyuki, Madlax, Full Metal Panic!) and Donna Hannah (E's Otherwise & Ghost Stories) to spectacular result that absolutely won't disappoint. Vocal performances are powerful and engaging without being overbearing or irrelevant. And visually this series promotes splendid grandeur, elegance and attitude with breath-taking Next-Gen CGI renders and fluid full-motion character animation.

FEATURED MEMBER
The Minitokyo staff would like to recognize shoujoboy as MTM's Featured Member for July 2007 because of his excellent contribution to an area often overlooked at MT - the reviews section. He not only writes clear, insightful, humorous reviews, but also actively comments on reviews written by other members. shoujoboy has been a MT member for nearly three years and originally started out as a self-professed wallpaper leecher. However, he quickly discovered an outlet for his love of writing and critiquing by writing reviews at MT. After an invitation by shinsengumi to join the Minitokyo Review group he really found his stride and went from full-time leecher to full-time reviewer. He likes having readers (he used to write reviews on his blog, but nobody read them) and getting ripped apart by fanboys (especially rabid Shana or Haruhi fanboys).
shoujoboy enjoys playing RPG and "horrible" Xbox360 video games like Bullet Witch for points in his free time. He hopes to see the level of serious, thoughtful discussions in the MT forums rise in the future, and wants to tell all anime fans that: "What is good is not always popular, and what is popular is not always good. Just because everyone else is talking about episode 400 of Naruto doesn't mean you have to jump on that bandwagon to be appreciated. Look for the overlooked gems and don't be afraid to be the voice of dissent among a crowd of the blind fans. Oh yea, and please support your favorite shows by buying legitimate copies. You aren't supporting a faceless corporation, you are saying thank you for a job well done and thank you for the entertainment."

FEATURED GROUP
is a group that was created by flyindreams
nearly two years ago, and ever since then, it has been inspiring many wallers and non-wallers all over Minitokyo to put
a little more thought and meaning in their wallpapers instead of too many sparkles and skanky school girls.
The group is so different because of its main purpose: to feature wallpapers with interesting and out-of-the-ordinary concepts that may not get enough attention in the gallery alone. It also promotes creative and original walling, rather than the boring and old cliche styles we see all too often on Minitokyo. Another cool thing about the group is that it allows participation from all of its users, whether they be wallers or not, with its voting system.
Besides all of that, the group has done several different projects, one being The Inspiration Project. No doubt about it, this group fulfills it's purpose completely!
