Anyone give me some advice on an interview?

Cancel

Hi. Well I had my first interview at a local retail store on Wednesday. Today, I have my second interview with the store manager. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for a second interview? I'm kinda nervous. It's coming up soon and I'm not sure what he's going to ask.

The first interview asked me the basic questions, I was ready for that. But I do not know what my second interview questions will be like. Does anyone know? x_x >_< nervous! agh >.<

It's a retail store, kinda like WalMart you know

Hrm... well I'm not sure what questions they asked you in the first interview, but I would tell you to dress to impress and show the manager what an asset you will be if they choose to hire you. What special skills will you bring to the company? Are you a cheerful person? Will you be nice to customers? Are you a hard worker? They may also ask you to elaborate on some of the things that they asked you in the first interview. I've never had to go back for a second interview, so I don't have too much experience in that area... ^_^'

ah lol...well it went well actually. He only asked a few simple questions and asked me if I was going to attend college in the fall. I think I'm going to get this job though :)

I'm glad it went so well on your interview! So, you already know whether you're accepted or not? I hope you are ^^
Interviews sure are horrible, aren't they? I get the chills just thinking about it :P

Interviews are all different. Just have a layout of what to say. Say nice things.
Good luck.
Just be ready that the questions are sometimes about you, be cool and just calm down. If applying for a job doesn't work, try volunteering. Gives you enough experience to let you work later on. More skills.

As long as we are in favour of the Gods in this world, we should be fine :)

Concentrate on your strengths and try reading up on the job position so you can tout your abiliteis in relation to the opening. Also, tell them you are willing to learn how to do multiple things (having mulitple skill sets in todays society is a really big plus when looking for jobs)

Do not interfere in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

yeah I told em all that and still nothing...I guess they wanted an experienced cashier. Meh, no matter....I'm donating plasma now to bring in extra cash :)

You should be as you are, because you don't know what they are looking for. And in a job interview you will never know when is goin to be your day.

lol yeah apparently in this state, that's not good enough...every interview I've been to so far....they look at me like I'm f**king stupid because I've never had a job...I'm only 21 god lol

and they even look more disgusted when I say I'm a homemaker and my boyfriend supports the both of us...this state is highly religious...so I guess I'm "living in sin" ~_~

Smile, eye contact, good posture. Don't touch your face, make sure your breath smells good (but don't chew gum during the interview!), and make sure you're dressed appropriately. The last one sounds like a no-brainer but you'd be surprised.

1) your presentation - clothes, appearance, health status, smile, body languages etc. you know the rest
2) know what you are applying
3) find out everything that can be found on the company you are applying
4) be as frank and honest about yourself as possible, don't pretend, coz when u r, they know (coz usually they've the experience to tell! You pick up that skill as you mature).
5) get into your interviewer's mindset - if I were recruiting, I want a) experienced? b) can work for long hours? c) won't leave position quickly for whatever reasons; d) candor etc etc.

This is probably a dated response, but hopefully some of this helps if you're still looking or if someone else is looking:

1. Everything that Moesucker said above me.
2. Be on time for an interview or EARLY if possible.
3. Be confident, NOT nervous, it shows when you are nervous.
4. Try and find out the interview's name prior to the interview, and DON'T forget it. If an interviewee forgets my name, they can forget about the job.
5. Bring a resume on nice paper. If you have no experience, put one together and bring one anyways, and use it to focus on your strengths.
6. Don't BS your way through the interview.
7. Practice your responses in front of a mirror or with a friend. It is much easier to answer if you are prepared.
8. Smile and try to make a personal connection with the interviewer.
9. Good luck, it's a tough job market out there.

Ciao,
