Hi there ^^
I was just reading some lyrics from the band Kashmir and I thought it was pretty good. I like lyrics with depth for
example The Cardigans - You're the Storm. For anime I like the lyric to Brothers from FMA. really sad...
Then I started wondering what kind of lyrics your guys here on MT liked XD Soo... What is you favorite lyric and why? ^^
Well, I loved the lyrics to James Blunt's " No Bravery ", it was very meaningful and sad. It was a commentary on world problems and all that, about people treating each other worse as time passes.
For anime, I think I like the lyrics to Angela's " Hatenaki Monologue ", which was used in the OAV Soukyu no Fafner: Right or Left.

I love all of Cradle of Filth's lyrics, mainly because they're so poetic. Dani Filth has a way with words, for sure. That, and I love the historical references they bring into a lot of their songs. For example, "Acheron's beach"? Taken from Dante's Inferno, I believe.

I think Colin Meloy of the Decemberists writes some brilliant lyrics.
Ben Gibbard writes a lot of great songs with catchy melodies.
