So I've noticed a lot when going to other people's houses and such that many people--including myself--have a stack of magazines in their bathroom near the toilet for those particularly nasty bits of constipation, and sometimes even a book of extra hard sudoku puzzles.

It got me wondering: why exactly do we read while we take our no. 2s, and wouldn't doing so distract us from proper bowel movements? Modern toilets already deny us of nature's proper excrement position...

On a more pleasant note, what I'm actually curious about is what magazines you have, or do you actually concentrate on poo whilst sitting on the loo?
I have Time, Entertainment Weekly, and Juxtapoz. =]

I usually rush to my room to grab a book or manga I want to read, or have already finished and just want something to take my mind off of what, exactly, I'm going through (no, no pun intended-and your final rhyme had me in stitches while I was typing *is subjected to another bout with the giggles*).
I do wonder, though, what is "Juxtapoz"? Interesting, if rarely spoken of, topic.

I must be lucky or maybe it's because I eat lots of fibers but I don't have the time to read anything while on the toilet. Yeah, must be those fibers.

sadly I don't have any of that...could be why people snoop in my stuff, but I don't want them to stay longer than they do so I don't place anything and hope they leave sooner

I usually read the back of shampoo bottles and things like that. I don't take anything with me, but sometimes I get lucky and find the newspaper or People magazine that my mom left in there.

I didn't use to have any reading materials in the bathroom since I get done fast........ (this is rather awkward to say.....)
But now I have few mangas like Detective Conan or watever and I have few issues of NEWTYPE magazine....

Try editorials regarding politicians you hate or stories (Horror mostly) with pictures that are mind blowing. I guarantee that it certainly will not interfere (More likely encourage) your bowel movements.

Hence the phrase "When you see it, you'll shit bricks."

I used to play my Gameboy while on the john back when I was young, but that was mostly because I didn't want a bathroom break to interfere with my playing. XD But now, I usually go without any distractions, unless I'm completely absorbed in a book and don't want to put it down.

Erm usually i will read a fashion magazine or newspaper bah, i like to bring reading material into toilet as i tink i do not want waste any time in the toilet just sitting there! hehe... somehow i am also not distracted by the reading materials!

I don't have anything in my bathroom, but at my friends' houses there are stuff from Time and Life, to Archie comics and an mp3 player 0_o
