Well, I love to draw since I was little, then I started watching anime and I like the artwork. I've learned some things from reading manga and seeing other people's art. Well, some people say that reading anime artbooks help to improve your drawings...or maybe just artbooks by a certain artist in general. Is it really a big help? What do you think? Thankies! :)

Hmm..it does help in a sense but it depends on what you did pick up after reading them.
Any artists would be fine but if you wanna be good then pick the best available. With my eyes,I'll watch over my future that had been set. With my hands,I'll rip my path and make my way.

Depends on the artbooks. I don't draw much anymore but I recommend a mixture of what are called theory books (How to) and actual art books by the artists with their art and how they do things and how they are inspired.

i'd say, just practice, practice, practice. reading artbooks help only if you can learn something from them. theoretical books to get a better understanding of the basic principles of drawing. look at artbooks to get a better understanding of different styles or concepts. and last practice a lot. apply what you've learned.

I'd pick a couple art books from artists you love, a couple art books with art you think would be too hard (and work on copying it until it's not too hard) to do and a couple "how to" books.
The "how to draw manga" books on logical proportions and bodies and anatomy are really quite useful (I too am mostly an auto-didact and had the most trouble learning logical, consistent proportions).

Yeah, pick 'em up. Not only are they fun to look at, but every now and then you look at a drawing and go: "oh, hey. THAT'S how that works". Then you can modify it and apply it to your own art style. Just little subtleties that you never noticed before jump out.
I must admit though: personally I'm not real crash hot on "how to" books. I think they're useful when you're just starting out to give you a basic idea of how to, well, do the basics. But I think after a very short period all they wind up doing is limiting you. I'd steer clear.

You should look at art books other than just anime/manga books. Many of those artists are good at "real" art, too. Your drawings will be MUCH better if you can draw realistically, also. For example, I often see bed manga art by people who don't understand musculature. Some good books are "atlas of human anatomy for the artist", "Drawing the head & figure" by Jack Hamm, and "Bridgeman's complete guide to drawing from life."
I have to disagree with WingPilot2's assessment of 30% / 70%. Having natural talent absolutely makes things come easier. And people without natural talent will never be as good as people with it. But people without natural talent, with good instruction and lots of hard work, can become really good. I taught how to draw & paint for years, and many of my students had no natural talent.

I believe so, even by just flipping through one you're bound to pick something up.

yeah they do..well for me they do, because when i see anime or a manga or just basically any kind of art i get to see their expressions and body movements in a certain position so it gets to help with getting the anatomy of art

hrm... I was never really an avid collector or reader of artbooks. I have a few, but not much.
However, around 14, when I really started actively participating in "teh internets" and discovered many great artists, that's when my own art skills really spiked after being inspired by so many great artists.Even simply reading manga, I'll find myself trying to imitate the art of the mangaka (mostly toshino ono (pokemon lol), totsumo nihei, shingo nanami, and nobuhiro watsuki)
...so. I guess reading artbooks helps.

yeah sure thing it helps me in learning smoe techniques and tricks in drawing but some techniques/tricks there is not advisable like burning the tip of the paint brush, HEY PAINT BRUSHES ARE EXPENSIVE ESPECIALLY THE GOOD AND BRANDED ONES JUST TO MAKE A CERTAIN EFFECT.I think the same ffect can be done using handling trick or something.

I find that artbooks are a good reference if you are trying to imitate or learn that style. Learning by imitating is actually pretty useful, for me anyway.
Basically you practice and practice by copying the picture, and eventually you'll be able to draw similar style art without copying.

For me artbooks help when i don't really have time to complete works but need to know how to do something. For me its more a need to know instant that i use artbooks or in school. I find trial and error is the best method.

It helps A LITTLE BIT. Not really. You should rent them from the library and read some of the tips they give. It's very helpful.
But to get better in art, there is no easy way. You have to keep copying, copying, copying until you master it. This goes for every form of art. Anime, portrait, abstract patterns, etc.
