Apparently KyoAni has scrapped the 2nd season of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. Instead, they've opted for a "new" Haruhi series which appears to be based upon the disappearance novel. They've gone back to the drawing board and redesigned the characters (seems to be mainly the guys, making them a little more attractive for the bisho girls out there x_x)
Here is a photograph of the new designs from this months Newtype magazine. I'm sure we'll get to see some high resolution scans soon. Rumors around are placing this to release in 09. It was also said that the "season 2" was already in the works and was canned due to some artists leaving KyoAni earlier this year.
