The following changes have occured to the gallery:

Bigger 'large' thumbnails:
The thumbnails used on the view single gallery items page have increased in dimensions from 320px to 500px in width. Also their jpg quality has increased. A similar quality increase is planned for the small thumbnails.

Duplicate interception
A feature has been added to preemptively intercept duplicate uploads. Every submission is checked to see if it has been previously uploaded already.

Title and Description made optional for scans
Since a lot of times, neither is really necessary.

New browsing format for wallpapers.
To include some more information, and give each entry a little more attention.

About scans description: I agree with making it 'optional', but why suddenly hide them all? :o
I was nearly shocked when I saw my scans without my descriptions XD
I know sometimes is just stupid to write "not my scan" or similar crappy stuff, but sometimes it could be useful for people to know more about the scan... my two cents.

I still think there should be a max-height to thumbnails, so that long images don't have huuuuge thumbs XD

What sorcery is this? That sounds cool, I wanna see/know how it works.

And as for the option for description on scans, that sounds ok. Can we have some sort of "show/hide description" or "More info" button or option for the viewers if the submitter writes a description?

Kind of technical. Let's say you can extract some sort of signature from each image (which is unique). So you only have to compare all the signatures for duplicates. Try uploading an image that already exists on Mt and it should fail :)

Not sure if I should post this here, but was the option for titles and descriptions only for scans? Or for wallpapers as well? 'Cause now there aren't any titles or descriptions for some of the wallpapers submitted in the last few hours.

Cool it works :) This would help a lot with deleting dups. Although, does it work for similar scans? (like scans that have the same image, but different dimensions) And does it slow down upload time? 'cause it has to check against other images.

Not sure if this is related, but it is about the recent changes to image urls for thumbnails. Since they're now randomly put into folders, the image url changes depending on the image. So would it be possible to implement a new BBCode tag, like for example "[thumb233342]" , where 233342 is the ID of the image, that gets the image URL and converts it to the thumbnail image? Kinda like the [group*=groupName ] tag?

Oh yeah... I also noticed that gallery items don't seem to have their own page titles anymore. So for example when I go to a wall, it just shows - Minitokyo instead of [wall title] - Minitokyo. I kind of miss having the titles of walls/indy art show... especially when I have multiple tabs open :(

Thank you so much for the larger preview images! This is such a huge improvement.

Uploaders no longer need to say "please fullview" because of the inferior thumbnail. This is really a great feature for my favorite image site. Thanks again!

Can we only restrict the Quarantine gallery to mods (and maybe elites) only? There's no need to show it to members or random ppl (not logged in) on the art page.

I like the new format for wallpapers ^^ (doesn't look the best on 800x600 screen, but I'm guessing not a lot of people use that resolution anymore anyway), although I don't think it's necessary to put the number of faves in the summary, just the title, submitter, and category are good enough imo.

I agree with Maple, I don't think it's that necessary to put number of faves. The highlight/elite tag looks kinda odd to me, maybe put it under the thumbnails or info?

Also I noticed the "Switches" on Browsing Options n the left panel aren't properly listed. And I'd quote Flyin that the page titles for walls and indy arts are left empty (besides the "- Minitokyo" part)

Perhaps taking this new wallpapers section on top of the thread section could have an even better effect on giving the walls some attention (in the guestbooks that is). I like how it looks but as Maple & gaara I feel the fav count isn't that needed over there. Wouldn't annoy me if it stays either.

I feel that the Fav count isn't needed, the title and series and who submitted the wall is enough. The better and bigger thumbnail is welcome, now you can see the image more clearly but sometimes thumbnails for scans can take sometime to load, maybe it's my connection? I also agree that title and description for scans isn't really needed.

For those commenting on the favorite count, is there any reason you want the fav count specifically to not show?

Adding resolution of the image to the information would be awesome, or maybe provide us with control over which detail to show?

I like seeing the favorites, personally. I do like seeing that it's elite/hilighted. The format looks nice in the gallery and on my userpage, but the borders don't look as nice on the userpage as they do in the gallery. The resolution of the wallpaper/indy art would be very helpful to people with slow internet connections when deciding whether or not to full view a file, and for everyone else that is looking for a wall specifically to fit their monitor.
