Is anyone interested or is currently actively involved in any forms of martial arts or study of weaponry (guns, spears, swords, etc)?
This can also include the historical or philosophical studies of the forms, styles, and ranges rather than physical involvement, or rather...any other kinds of involvement associated with martial arts or weaponries.

So what forms do you study?

I am currently doing Karate and am considering doing Wushu as well some time soon.

This can be studied?!

ok...this may actually depend on where in the world you are located. America for example allows the possession of a gun for citizens (or at least it is very common for Americans to own one without question)

so i guess you might need to consider where you are as well for this question thread post.

I did muay thai for some time and I'm also into guns and knives. I'm not a gangster though, I do it mostly for fun.

I've been doing somewhat of a mixed martial arts for the past two years now. (and when I say MMA I don't mean like the stuff you see in the UFC...) For the most part it's Taekwondo. Like our hand/foot techniques along with our forms/kata are traditional Taekwondo forms starting from Chon-Ji at white belt up to well currently Yul-Gok which is the purple belt form (where I'm currently at) But we're also required to learn weapon forms/kata along with techniques. The weapon based things we learn come from Okinawan Karate such as the nunchaku, sai, kama and hard staff along with Kung Fu such as the soft staff (brown belt) and the broad/straight sword (2nd Dan Black Belt).

>.< Ahem~ now it's my time to explain the most general knowledge on Chinese martial art (aka Wushu).

Chinese martial arts divided into four category:
1) Chang-Quan (Long Fist Pattern)
2) Nan-Quan (Northern Fist Pattern)
3) TaiJi-Quan (TaiChi)
4) Traditional Patterns (such as the Praying Mantis, Eagle Claw, and sorts of antique weapons...)

Basically, I'm practising the Nan-Quan, which requires strength and stability.
While Chang-Quan requires agility and flexibility; TaiJi-Quan requires softness and patient.
As for the traditional pattern, one who can practise them is the elite one who is chosen from the coach.

However, that's not the end of it.
After finish practising the fist of each pattern, each pattern has it branch-out weapon style.
1 = Chang-Quan : Jian-Shu (sword) & Qiang-Shu (spear) / Dao-shu (broadsword) & Gun-Shu (lite-cudgel)
2 = Nan-Quan : Nan-Dao (heavy-broadsword) & Nan-Gun (thick cudgel)
3 = TaiJi-Quan : TaiJi-Jian (TaiChi sword) / Taichi fan / Taichi spear / Taichi cudgel and so on.

If one who like to know more, one can leave comment in my page :D
Thanks for the thread so that I can express my favourite hobby!

Specifically old style fighting. Anything with a sword and shield. I really want to fight a kendo master though. See which sword style is better.

The kendo master's mostly offensive technique or my mostly defensive technique.

I would love to learn martial arts. I have a bad back, so that's out of the question. When I was really little, I remember my dad learning Arnis. If my back wasn't a problem, I'd love to learn that. But, I wouldn't want to go to those classes with a bunch of people. I'd want to be privately taught, like my dad was.

I'm also really into anything Medieval, so I'd also love to learn how to fight with a broadsword/longsword.
