I dont go to manga fox too often, i prefer onemanga.

But this is a warning, currently Link removed no posting links to sites in which to obtain copyrighted material is full of adware and malicious content being transferred to anyone who veiws the manga there.

i have verified the contents of some of the malicious files using wire shark and traced that it is either being routed through the domains main IP (3rd party hacker) or it has been injected directly into the script of the webpage.

I send out this warning because it is possible to damage precious files and lose information, such as login info and account numbers.

please for your own sake do not go to mangfox.com

if you do dare, make sure you use Firefox and have ad blocker plus installed, ensure your firewall is set to no exceptions, and set anti virus settings to maximum.

my firewall was turned off without me noticing while viewing.

i will keep up to date on this, I'm trying to contact Mangafox personally.

This is an unfortunate ongoing issue mangafox has had for some time now. I've read the mangafox forums on this subject and it seems that the people who run the website have been trying to get it under control and can't seem to for some reason. I usually read manga on onemanga.com, but sometimes they don't have it and mangafox.com does. I think reading manga on mangafox.com crashed my hard drive. I wish they could get it cleaned up because it's a really cook site, but until then I'll read my manga elsewhere.

Okay, so i have been doing some research on what's going on. Unfortunately the malicious software is harmful and it isn't just some Ad.bureau cookie. Looks like the most common one is a trojan, this particular virus is especially dangerous because it was able to shutdown my firewall without warning.

I am still able to go to mangafox cause i have really high security put up, and i monitor all traffic, inbound and outbound.

if you do go, that's your risk right now... speaking from an IT repair tech's point of view, Don't.

Anyways, I'm not gonna try to find the solution for them, now it's up to the owners of Mangafox to deal with. It's actually not to hard to solve either, but it would be very time consuming.

Yay another update!

Okay so, It seems that it is a trojan clicker!

here's what i can tell you.

Trojan clickers are a small file (14kb usually) that are written in C and packed with UPX.
what they do is they are downloaded with other files, masking the small files size amongst the traffic (such as a photo...or manga scan...)

they have a wait time (aprox 7 min) until they unpack and execute.

when they execute they can bring up ads or windows.

heres the skinny. if you suddenly get a popup, even if it looks like a legit windows error code or warning from microsoft "security alerts" DON"T CLICK ANYTHING.

best chance is to press ALT+F4. this will close the popup. if that fails close it with CTRL+ALT+DEL and end task in task manager.

There are more virus' on the site, but this is one i have identified. i'm working on identify the others.

I HATE TROJAN MALWARES!

Old computer was f--ked up because of that crap. My father tracked it down in an attempt to find its origin. He did and its from Russia. From one of them hackers I figure.

Not gonna fall for that again.

k so i've been using wireshark (look it up) to trace the packets and their content from manga fox.

Here is my final verdict.

Mangafox i currently still in need of maintainence, but as long as you use firefox browser and adblocker plus you can still use it safely.

so if you go to mangafox please do the following before hand.

-open windows firewall, make sure it is set to no exceptions.
-it is best to have a virus scanner with live traffic monitoring, and set those levels to maximum. (i suggest avast pro, or bitdefender.
-makesure you use firefox web browser and install the latest version of adblock plus. (not the old ones) it has to be adblock plus or you will fail...
-lastly, i suggest doing an ad-ware scan after every visit. you can download windows defender from microsoft (if u use windows) but i prefer ad-aware. the personal version should be free at Lavasoft.com

I hope i don't have to post here anymore, this should solve any issue's.
feel free to PM me for help or questions, and lets hope mangafox can solve the problem on their end.

Surf with caution!

Thanks for the warning. I don't go there though, heck it's my first time I heard that site. I usually read mango at onemanga.com. It's a nice tip, I'll remember it.

<i>I love you scampi and fenafir! You two rocks!</i>

I only visited mangafox once, but I had a hard time moving past the first page because pop ups would keep showing up. My pop up blocker caught most of them, but after about 5 minutes I just shut the window down. A friend uses Mozilla and never had a problem though.

I just suck it up and stick to onemanga; I'll eventually get what I'm missing when I buy the books anyway.
