i have a few friends that swear that manga is aways better than the Anime of it. What is your guy's take on it? I like Anime more than Manga because it moves with colors and sound

Well...I kno for me personally, I prefer anime. Because I like to visualize the characters coming to life on the screen, and hear the voice acting & stuff. And well,I agree with you. I like how it moves with color and sound, as it does in anime. it's just really cool like that! But of course, manga is good too! and sometimes they do tend to bring out more of the story than in the anime. for instance, in the Fruits Basket manga they included the character Rin Sohma, who I didn't even see at all in the anime. However...honestly, i'm sure they both have their ups and downs. But for me, I just prefer to watch anime usually over read the manga...so yea.

I normally prefer manga. The story and plot tend to be longer and better, but in rare cases, I'll prefer the anime version. Like Code Geass (favorite anime of all time) and Gundam Seed/Gundam Seed Destiny.

Well, this all depends, I suppose, on which came first, and even that does not apply to all series.

For example, my favorite anime of all time is Fullmetal Alchemist. The manga came first, but because the anime went into production so soon after the manga began, the stories eventually split. Though the manga is longer and contains the original story plan, I will always enjoy the anime much more. Because it's very much an action story, it translated very well into anime.

Now, for the other side of that coin. Another series I love is Death Note. It is my favorite manga series, though I enjoyed the anime as well. However, since much of the plot was psychological, I felt that some of the scenes from the manga looked less than thrilling in animation. So in that I'd say the manga was superior.

For a third example, let's look at Wolf's Rain (another favorite of mine). It's a good mix of action and psychological drama, and came out originally as an anime; the manga adaptation came after. The manga art is very pretty, but they shortened the story a lot. This is a good example of original being better, since it was first imagined with colors, voices, and movement.

Overall, though, I don't believe that either medium is better than the other. I feel that they work best together, because they give the viewer/reader a different perspective on a story they enjoy. I remember it was mentioned in a documentary about Miyazaki's Nausicaa, that the idea of the film came first, but that Miyazaki had to first draw a manga version of the story to increase interest in the movie when it came out. So really, I feel that manga and anime go hand in hand and just serve to help boost interest in one or the other.

Well, story-wise, anime usually becomes messed up, so if a good story is what you seek, go for manga, if you want eye candy, go for anime. I prefer to get a better story so my personal preference is manga.

I prefer both anime and manga. But manga comes first for me.
Coz in the anime, sometimes they cut off certain parts of the story.
There are also a lot of good mangas out there that are not turned into an anime.
And there are also some animes that dont have manga.
So i prefer manga as a pass-time and anime for entertainment. ^^

I may be small pyo~

I read more manga than I watch anime but anime will always hold a special spot in my heart. There are just more things to be charmed with in anime (music, voice actors, pretty much what love-angel said)

The thing I like more about manga is that there are no fillers. Also, fights tend to go on for ages in animes.

Manga, IMO, but there are a lot of good anime too.

When there are manga first and anime second (after +100 chapters of manga ) I don't even wanna see the anime series . I'm a huge HnI fan . I saw first the anime 1-72 + 2 movies. (~manga 1-300) . I read manga from ~300 to 859 (now) . I wanted to see the second anime serie but I renounced after 3 episodes . The manga was so much better than I thought that anime stink . That's for me even they tried to respect the manga . What I'm doing now ?
I'm reading a lot of manga - 3-5 hours/day and sometimes (and only sometimes -when I find a very nice anime without manga ) I'm looking at a manga .
Another thing : when you like a manga you're making in your head your own story about all the action inside , it's kinda you're a director of your own movie of the manga . That's why is harder to accept that other anime of the manga is better than yours . Mine are always better . :P

It depends on the series. Sometimes manga sometimes anime. I like to read/watch both and decide on each series. It's really hard to tell!

It's really all on personal taste and my personal favorite is anime, because you hear them talk and think aloud instead of trying to decide what they would sound like.

Manga might be "better" than anime in most cases, but the difference isn't really enough for me to care in most cases. Maybe I'm just not a stickler enough for the piddly details or something, but with a few rare exceptions, anime and manga are close enough in quality to break out pretty even.

I actually prefer to watch anime than to read manga. I mean, I'd read a few mangas and stuff which were good but anime still beats it. Though sometimes you figure out more about the characters and the storyline by reading the manga.

i think the manga is better than the anime

Well...i prefer both. It really depends on the drawings and how it goes to me. Because sometimes the i would read the manga then watch the anime, to see that they screwed up the plot and drawings. Sometimes its the other way around. But sometimes anime is on the good side because it has 3-D motion and color~

for me BOTH...well some animes can't be created without mangas. to some people it might be boring to read so they prefer to watch :)

"Possibly humans can exist without actually having to fight. But, many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future then what sort of future is it and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?"

I like both. But I love the Manga art better. Sometimes, the anime art can be better but I think the most of the original manga works look nicer.

Also with anime, the animators sometimes drag it out for too long... ;A; in those cases i prefer the manga more <3
