I'm still learning how to color images on the computer so i was wondering if people here could give me some help...

How would I make the highlight effect similar to what Koge-Donbo uses in her illustrations? (the hair highlight)

Also...how can I get my images to look crisp and clean? The only way I can think to do that is to use vectors but I don't think images such as this one were made with vectors...but the paintbrush tool doesn't seem to give it that professional look - it looks too soft when I do it.

If anybody could help, or point me in the direction of some good tutorials I'd be really appreciative!
Thanks!

Well... I don't know how she does it, but maybe you can try combining vectors with painting?
To me it seems like she has one side with hard lines and one with soft shading for her hair highlights, and so maybe you can vector the bottom edge and then airbrush the other side?

i usually use 3 layers. first for basic color, second for highlight, third for shading.
for highlight i usually change the layer mode. Screen layer mode for highlight.
it's simple, it's true, because i'm a mouse user ;w;

sorry if i'm not much help
