Just as the topic states, what was the saddest song you ever listened to? List as many as you can (just don't go too crazy!), as long as you can classify the song itself as being sad (i.e. makes you feel very sad). The song can be instrumental or in any language.

The goal is to understand how people interpret music. If you can explain why that specific song makes you feel sad, or what comes to your mind when you listen to that song that makes you feel sad, please do so.

I'll start:

Artist: Akino Arai
Track: Solitude
Language: Japanese

The song's words are supposed to reflect happy experiences, that is until the last few lines of the song. It makes me feel that happiness is so fragile, and that life can turn into a nightmare in a split second where all of a sudden you're left alone in solitude. As you remain in solitude with just your thoughts to keep you company, all that exists is sadness that engulfs you and increases in intensity. A world with only you...and no one else around. The pleasurable experiences like smelling the scent of grass, or the wind blowing through you hair reminds you of nothing but the pain that you're alone. The pleasurable experiences bring you pain precisely because they remind you that you really are alone. Memories haunt you, and all you can do is remain in solitude as the tears fill your eyes...

For me, it's "Diamond Crevasse" from Macross Frontier. I love this song very much >W<,, May'n's voice is so powerful and the way she sing is incredible! The lyric represents the broken heart and the feeling of sadness.

About Raggs no Chinkonka, Lacrimosa and siren song, someone said that it's seem holy songs, but in some moments, I feel that's some unexpected sadness inside that songs ^^. Maybe you won't feel anything in the songs which you're listening to, but in some moments, when the melodies are the same with what you're feeling, you'll feel something, sadness or happiness ^^

I'm thinking that why don't you post download links (if you can), so everyone can listen to your favourite song

Sorry for my bad English ^^

Artist: Ayumi Hamasaki
Track: Moments
Language: Moments

I heard this song for the first time two years ago when I listened to FMA: Bluebird's Illusion - game's opening theme aka Moments. It was really touching when I first heard it and definitely wanted to download it. Now I've been addicted to it for two years and I still find it sad, touching and a song, which makes you cry if you listen to it and concentrate for it for 100%. The lyrics, Ayumi's voice, the melody ... everything is just perfect there ! I'll definitely recommend this if somebody wants to hear something beautiful and sad, which will make you cry.

Nirvana's song "Something in the Way". I listen to it when I want to cry, and it works. It's very melodic and depressing.

The greastest defense we have against the painted demons and turmoil of life is laughter.
