Good people, I wonder if it is the institution of party politics which will bring about the ruin of our modern society. The idea of political factionalism, much despised by the early Roman republicans and the founding fathers of the United States, seems to have taken a hold on governments all around the world with varying degrees of success and failure. Communism was opposed by the major political parties of the United States as a threat to their grip on the nation's government. This fear and suspicion was thrust upon the American populace to the point where Americans came to have an outlook on communists bordering on hatred of the highest degree. It was this hatred which very nearly brought the entire civilized world to total ruin!
I think, however, that though political parties may be, by their very nature, an impediment to democracy, it is actually their lobbies which hold the real power. It is perhaps the sad truth that the course of our nations, and perhaps even the course of world events, is determined by a small majority of special interest groups. Among these special interest groups are banks. At the risk of sounding anti-Semitist,(which I must assure all readers, I bear no ill will of any kind toward Jews. My grandmother happens to be a Jew) the most superior bankers in the world have been people of or related to the Jews. It is partially because of their pecuniary prowess that we live in such an advanced economic and fiscal environment. Their ideas on banking and industry have contributed greatly to the formation of our modern society. But I wonder if they will also be the death of it. It is because the banking lobby is so powerful in the U.S. government that the state of Israel continues its existence. The banking lobby ensures that Israel is the highest receiver of U.S. foreign aid dollars in the world. I have been to Israel, and I have seen what they do with these dollars. Firstly, there are certainly countries that could use the money much more than Israel. They are very well off for a middle eastern nation. Secondly, they use foreign aid dollars to build a wall to separate Israelis from Palestinians, to the ruin of Palestian business and agriculture. If they are angry at the Israelis for taking away their land and separating their friends and families, I think they have every right to be so. This obviously, has gravely offended the neighboring Arab-Islamic countries (who never knew of the holocaust, in some cases deny it, and have no impediment to open anti-Semitism). Still, because of lobbyists, the U.S. continues to moronically shell out billions to the Israelis, simultaneously gravely offending the Arab countries which the U.S. relies upon for oil, and who, at their very whim, could embargo oil trade with the U.S. bringing about its complete collapse. Thank Allah that the Arabs desire American dollars more than they hate Israelis. This is not to say that the Jews should not have a homeland. They certainly deserve a land to call home most among all the people of the world, but perhaps in a region less disputed. Lobbyists will ensure that Israelis stay in the middle east, risking the demise of our precious world economy in a potentially massive regional conflict if the Iranians have their way.
What if there were no lobbyists, and no political parties to threaten the peace? My own father spends his waking hours perpetually criticizing Democrats and liberal left progressives on every single issue they consider. President Obama cannot possibly do anything right or succeed in any manner, not only because he is a Democrat, but because this somehow makes him a half wit. It is obvious that such thinking is bigoted and unfounded. But he is one of many who think this way. Republicans, by their very nature, will oppose Democrats on every issue, and never seek compromise. The United States was founded on the ability of wise men to compromise. We have lost this ability, to the potential ruin of us all. Politics has degenerated into a gigantic blame game, with parties scrambling to make certain that the opposition does not get credit for fixing a problem, while at the same time, providing no solutions of its own. This is not to say that Republicans are any worse than Democrats. No indeed, I find them to be equally fatal to the progression of Democracy in America. And lobbyists have ensured the direction of these parties, so that their own special minority interests are served, and not always the will of the populace. American politicians are no longer able to think for themselves as they are beset by a storm of party factionalism and obligations to lobby groups. We must make politicians accountable to the people again. We must allow for our politicians to think and act for what they truly believe to be in the best interest of the country, and not the best interest of the person who funds their reelection campaigns. I put forth the question to you good people, should we, and how do we do this?

You bring up some good points. I've stopped following politics because it's so ridiculous. Maybe we should have an unlimited amount of parties.

meh never did follow the government debates anywhere, used to live in the states, lost interest and stopped caring, started telling people to vote for the person with the best lies, in the end that's all it really is, lies and broken promises...now that I live in another part of the world, still don't care much...the "higher parties/people" have been doing what they wanted for thousands of years now, couldn't stop them then possibly can't stop them now

Yes of course political parties should always be used in any terms of politics. That's why we a choices to choose from and these political parties sorted the politicians running for a selected position. Like the administrative party that wants to keep the current government running. The opposition party that wants to change the current way of the government and the third party that has a different view. That's the help of these political parties so that we can find out where these politicians can belong to and it will help us determine if we will vote for them or not.
