haha im a malaysian myself but i haven't watch it yet (exams that time). bu from what i know its a bout love story based on the legend of the Melaka Kingdom. i heard they tweaked the legend a bit. what i know from the original (from learning literature at school), that Princess Gunung Ledang was suppose to be one of the most beautiful woman in the wordl and the king wants to marry her. so the king sent Hang Tuah (in english tuah means luck) and some of his other subordinates to ask for her hand. from what ive learned at school the princess was a bit demanding though. i dun really know what happen in the movie. ok i think that's about all i know. my literature knowledge suck suck suck. :p

A movie based on a Malaysian folklore. Puteri Gunung Ledang (Gusti Putri is her real name) was a princess living in the mountains and the Sultan (King) of Malacca heard of the rumors how beautiful she is, sent Hang Tuah, his most powerful warrior up the mountains to bring her down where the Sultan can make hr as his wife. But as it turns out, Hang Tuah fell for Gusti Putri and....
Better stop there. It'll be a spoiler.
From my observation, the movie was great. Awesome effects but it's hardly an epic despite the title. 2 hours just ain't enough. They should make it at least 3 hours. Besides, being nominated for the Oscar means that the movie must be pretty damn good.

I'm lost :D A malaysian movie this is. I rarely watch TV now, except for anime DVDs on my TV. I have no access to asian channels (except for indian channels), and I've only 1 chinese channel here in the UK: tvb.
i dislike TVB, I never watch it, boring shows now, and HK are really poor in their music composition now.I'm positive that other shows like Malaysian, Japanese and Korean shows are better than those Hong Kong/China ones.

but hang tuah is a great legend
known to all ppl in malaysia
but this movie kinda makes him look liked a whimp
I just hate when that happens.oh and, yah not all malaysian are bad.
