I gave High School of the Dead a try and i must say that its entertaining.
(Yet affected by too much fan service). Lol.
If a loved one or a friend became a zombie, would you take their life with your own hands?

I couldn't kill my family even if they were zombies. I would probably end up like the preist in Resident Evil and just feed them lol

I might rephrase the question slightly. Once they've become a zombie, they no longer have a life to take, so I would probably phrase it like "if they were turning or going to turn into a zombie, would you?" For me, I don't see any problems whatsoever. I'm more rational and less emotional in general, so I wouldn't expect to have that much trouble.

pfft, it would be great therapy to kill my family if they turned into zombies, I probably wouldn't think a thing of it, to protect others from turning into zombies of course ;) but personally, once you get by the over load of ecchi (but based upon the manga itself no great surprise there) then it's not all that bad.

But i hate that the anime is ecchi, it just ruins the entire seriousness of the anime. [[[ No i haven't seen even a second of it and i am not planing to ]]]
Only Chuck Norris would be able to keep the his face serious while watching this.

but I am a bit annoyed that in a horror anime so good! that there are also quite ecchi scenes ... >_>...

I've never watched that show before, but to answer the question, I'd say it would depend. If it were my parents who turned into zombies, I'd just try to lock them up in a room. But if it were my annoying cousin... *pulls out cannon*

I agree. They should tone down the fanservice. And just give us a good Anime filled with Zombies, Drama, and Funny moment's.

As for the question - I would kill them before they started to turn, if they ask me to do so...

depend on the person's personality, if when he or she still alive they don't want to become and live as a zombie, then i would kill him or her for their own happines...

i will kill all the zombies rather i know them or not. once one become a zombie, theres no turning back. I will keep a few spare bullets to end my own life when the time come. There is a bit too much fan service especially from one ep i saw though they didn't show it but u pretty much get the idea of what had happened. think i am quite a bit behind on the series and not sure if i want to continue

Fan service in general isn't a bad thing.

The bad thing in terms of the Highschool of the Dead fan service is HOW they go about showing it; it just feels very forced and awkward in most of the situations they do it in...like the Matrix-style breast jiggling while a sniper bullet manages to magically fly between them and hit a zombie...

As for taking the life of a loved one or someone if they became a zombie, I'd definitely do it. If it were a loved one, it'd definitely hurt, but I'd know it's something that'd have to be done and that they're no longer that person and that that person won't be coming back, so better to mercifully put them down than let them wander like a nearly blank slate and kill other people.

I gave the series a try, it "seemed" quite promising, zombies...Why not? Apparently, that was my mistake and made me drop the series after watching 3 episodes (I honestly gave it a chance, first was ok, 2nd...maybe and third just hit the trigger). It's not just the forced Ecchi fanservice, even the plot doesn't make much sense when you think a little bit about it. It's also quite a bummer that I never saw a smashed-in head or anything like that, just blood.

They are dead when they are a zombie, simple as that. From all zombie series, games whatever, they can not return to normal. Once you know that, it doesn't leave you much choice. Kill or get killed, those who hesitate shall perish since that will get you nowhere. As for me, who knows? I have never been in that kind of situation, I can be all high and mighty and say that I will smash them but maybe I won't do anything at all. I can't predict what I would do in such situation, after all I'm just a mere human.

depends, if they were the only person i had i wouldn't even if i was equipped with the right tools to survive

if i had 1 or 2 other members i might take his/her life for the sake of others, in the end it both result are painful to see a close one die in from of ur eyes
better to kill them fast then let them die slowly from infection and become a zombie

high school of the dead is just another anime that has fan services nothing special about it

I've given up on the manga and I'm probably going to give up on the anime soon as well.

It's painfully obvious that the series, while having potential to be a fairly gripping high school students in a zombie apocalypse, it falls back on sex. This is even further accented by the fact that the four main female characters have absurdly huge chests and the outfits that they wear.

Now, in terms of the question itself. Of course. If we're going by the same rules that HoTD has established, it's irreversible and must be dealt with immediately. Regardless as painful and inhumane it may be, all form of humanity must be somewhat discarded to survive in such a word. There isn't so much of a choice about it or not.

In regards to the question: ...too hard to answer but I'd say yes if my life was to be ended by someone who just lost theirs

In regards to the anime: HOTD would have been an exceptionally better experience if they really focused less on the fanservice, it gets way too awkward watching especially episode 6. I really enjoy the action,the storyline and interactions, but because of the downright over-the-top ecchi/fan service elements, I can't recommend to my friends hah they'd probly laugh

would be a good anime If They would just stick to the Zombie theme but then again is the Sex thing.

I loved the season since I just watched in in one night, it was good enough to watch again/download.

But referring to the mcbeckley's original question, "If a loved one or a friend became a zombie, would you take their life with your own hands? "

-Hard to say honestly; like the thought that they've passed and have become a walking corpse you would think they want "peace". However they're still "physically" there, and psychologically you really need to be content and convinced, if you can survive afterward and deliver a kill to a loved one, friend or someone you know . Having your whole world crashing down around you can be a living hell and become unbearable. Also "turning into them" or suicide is the easy way out. Yet there a few other ways to look at if you choose to live : one, zombie killing spree(for the bloodthirsty could last a while or drive you insane, even the necessity to survive) ,two, what is it worth if you survived, and three, will your humanity still be intact through it all?(Again referring back to insanity through the constant repetition of killing. Not necessarily the "dead", but the living who will go through any means to survive.)

I guess my follow-up question would be, what happens if you're bit but haven't yet turned into "them"?

-Personally I would go guns blazing, especially if I was with a group. Survive guns blazing and got out guns blazing. That's how I would picture it. =P

it's depend on its situation.. if still there a chance to cure them, I'll cure them first. but if there isn't, there is no other option unless take their life. since its bite can make me become a zombie too, that's so horrible for me! OMG =A=
