From looking at other ppl's desktops here I can see there are those that mod their desktops alot and those that like it the old fashion way... Maybe we can share what sort of customization programs you guys use for ur desktops...

i feel no decrease in performance with windowblinds....then again itz depends on ur system.... mine is just a P4 2.4Ghz but i got 1GB RAM so that helps....

I use KDE with the Iron theme, and Kentoo Icons, and the Rev Redux mouse theme. But since everyone is talking about window :) I think everything is pretty much standard. except I changed to boot screen, and I use the Windows 2000 theme, and a few minor adjustments thanx to some XP tweaking site.

Yes Litestep would be a way of customising your desktop :) More people tend to just skin the explorer shell rather than replace it with something like a Litestep shell.
