hehe lets see um the only anime I know that would fall into those categories are
Fruits Basket - That is a a reverse harem but it's very popular so I doubt your friend hasn't herd of it.
Axis Powers Hetalia - or something like that. It's an all male cast with subtle boy love parts. It's also historical but...not very accurate. I know girls irl who are crazy for this anime so it might be worth a look ^_^V
