The story was quite finished, at least for me. I suppose Lucy's gonna get killed and everything will end in agony for the protagonist ( I don't remember his name, I watched the anime and read the manga long ago). Even though everything settled in the anime, Lucy won't get any peace and will just die in time or kill the dude and commit suicide... That's what I can think of.
